    3. Hello, As I'm sure most of you are aware, the automatic query system is no longer available. I have posted all the queries I've received to date on the Scott County webpage, so if you've sent one that is not on the page you may want to send it to me via Email since it's evidently been lost. To check and see if your recent Scott Co. query has been posted, just go to: http://www.rootsweb.com/~arscott/queries3.htm and check. Or you can go to the main Scott Co. page and just click on the "Queries" link. Any future queries (for the time being anyway) should just be sent to me at my Email address. Please do put "Scott Co Query" in the subject line so I don't accidentally delete it. Thanks! Delaine Edwards delaine@ipa.net

    3. A two-volume set of books, "Cemeteries of Scott County, Arkansas," is available from Mrs. Wanda Gray, 5634 Collins Lane, Fort Smith, AR 72901. I'm sorry I don't know the price, but it is available only in the two-volume set and can't be split up. It covers all the known cemeteries in Scott County. The listings for each cemetery are arranged alphabetically, then there is an index at the end of the second volume. Delaine Edwards >Hello Fellow Scott Co. 1. Scott Co. Obituaries
    2. Delaine Edwards
    3. Hi, Charlene Holland has graciously volunteered to take care of putting the current Scott County obituaries in the archives at ARGenWeb. These will be "up" in a week or so and we'll let you know the URL. Do any of you subscribe to the newspaper at Mansfield? Or know of any other Scott Co. newspaper that is being published? The only two I know of are the ones published weekly at Waldron and at Mansfield. If anyone gets the Mansfield paper, would you be willing to clip the obituaries from it? Please let me know. All of the available older obituaries for Scott County have been transcribed and published by the Scott Co. Historical & Genealogical Society. Those are from about 1887 to 1959. There are many gaps in what is available, but all of these are indexed and I will do lookups from them. If it's a short obit I can send it to you via Email; if it's too long to retype you may have to write the Society for a copy of it. They will send copies for a SASE and the cost of the copy (25c.) It's beginning to look and feel like fall here in the beautiful Ouachita mountains. I hope all of you are having a wonderful and relaxing Sunday. Delaine Edwards

    3. This is my first posting to this list. I'm searching for the burial place of my g-g-grandfather, Amariah Fenton CUSHMAN. To the best of my knowledge he died in October 1903 in Winfield, Scott Co., AR, and was residing with his son, Isaac Elmer CUSHMAN at the time of his death. Isaac Elmer CUSHMAN was involved in the timber business. I was told by a cousin that some family members had found Amariah's grave about 7 years ago in Arkansas, and that he was buried in Jane's Creek Cemetery or possibly James' Creek Cemetery. Does anyone know of these cemeteries? Do they even exist? Thank you for your assistance. Please respond by e-mail. Gene Majors Placentia, CA gnkm@fia.net

    1. WILLIAM PRESTON MORROW 1857-1929, INDIANA TO ARKANSAS
    2. C. Holland
    3. Hi! Still looking for information on WILLIAM PRESTON MORROW, born February 1857/1858 in INDIANA. According to census records, both of his parents were also born in Indiana. There are conflicting stories about William. One being that he was the sole survivor of an Indian attack as a boy, and the other is he may have had at least one sister, NANCY A/E MORROW, who married JAMES W. JONES, the brother of William Preston's wife, MELVINA JONES. William was known to be in SCOTT COUNTY, ARKANSAS from about 1880 until his death. Any help in finding information about William's parents or other family members would be greatly appreciated. Thanks so much. Charlene char@presys.com
