Hi! Looking for information on the following family. B.C. HARRIS was a Freewill Baptist Minister. He may have been part Cherokee. His son, ROBERT M., was called BOB by most people. Carr Allen was my great-grandfather,married Mary Elizabeth Berry, with Charlie Andrew Allen being my grandfather, and Leo Carr Allen by father who was drown in 1947. Charlie Carr Allen, married Euphia Carneal Hopkins whose mother was Lucy Kendall Wilson who I think was married to a Sheriff James Stewart Hopkins who was killed at a Christmas party in Scott County. Lucy later married Douglas Espy a preacher and died in Little Rock in 1962. Have little more info. Ruby Elizabeth Edwards born in Mena Ark was the daughter of Robert Lee Edwards(no info) & Lula Hill born in Pocola. Lula's Mother & father were Ralph L Hill & Elizabeth King who was born in Atlanta Georgia with her parents being Susie E Fowler & Thomas W King. Any help would certainly be appreciated. I am looking for information about LUVICIA JAMES, daughter of CLAYBOURNE JAMES (son of JESSE JAMES). She is listed in the 1850 Saline County Census as VICY JAMES with her parents, CLAYBOURNE and JANE (JENNY) JAMES, along with her siblings. She married JAMES W. JONES of Scott County (then Sebastian County). Ive been told that she may have been married prior to JAMES W. JONES, but have not been able to prove this one way or the other. She is listed in the 1860 Scott County Census with her husband and children. Her husband, James, was killed by bushwhackers during the Civil War. After the war she married WILLIAM R. VAUGHN and had six more children. My great grandmother, MELVINA JONES was her youngest daughter by JAMES W. JONES. Melvina married WILLIAM PRESTION MORROW in Scott County in the early 1800s. Hello, I have been trying to do reseach (with must frustration) in Arkansas, Scott Co, for the records of my Father's family. The surnames that I am look for are: STANSBERRY, AYNES, CAMPBELL, MATTHEWS. My G-mother was Genevia Stansberry, she married Dave Campbell in 1926 in Wright City Ok (this is doc.), and was born Possibly in BLACK FORK ARK,SCOTT CO. in 1910 (Nov). She attened school in Wright City Ok from one 1926 school census.We have not been able to find her birth in any records. Athough I did find her Father JAMES STANSBURY and his wife CATHERINE and son DEWEY on the 1910 SCOTT CO. BLANSETT TWSP. >From this report they had been married 3 years aprx 1907. I have been unable to find this record also. Or Catherine's maiden name (possibly Indian). . I have No info on Jame's parents. After the death of Catherine the children were raised by another family possibly MATTHEWS, until they were old enough to go back to the father. Some where in this Genevia attended a Cathlic / Indian / Missionary? school. Jame's occupation was a mill hand on the 1910 censas what kind I have no Idea. He may have died in Lindsy Pauls Valley in the mid 30's but once again I have not been able to find any record of this. I have gotten to a stand still and I am not sure where to look next and am so far away (Washington state) that It is hard to know. Any help you may have would be woulderful. Thank you. VICKY LE FAVE
To the Sessions family researchers on this list: According to the "Goodspeed" history, the parents of the Scott Co. Sessions were James and Lucinda (Loa) Sessions. Have any of you had any luck finding information on the Loa family? Is it possible her name was LOY rather than LOA? In later generations some of the descendants were given the first name Loy and I wondered if that might have been where it came from? Just a thought... Delaine Edwards
Hi all!! I am still looking for information on NANCY A. (or E.) MORROW (1/16/1864-5/23/1927), who married JAMES W. JONES, JR.(1861 - ?) of SCOTT COUNTY, AR. She was evidently born in INDIANA, and was in Scott County by early 1880s. She may have had a couple of brothers, one being WILLIAM PRESTON MORROW (2/1857-3/29/1929), my great grandfather, who was married to MELVINA JONES (sister of the above JAMES W. JONES). Hi again! It's been awhile so will post this again in hopes that someone out there has information on WILLIAM PRESTON MORROW, born February 1857/1858 in INDIANA. According to census records, both of his parents were also born in Indiana. There are conflicting stories about William. One being that he was the sole survivor of an Indian attack as a boy, and the other is he may have had at least one sister, NANCY A/E MORROW, who married JAMES W. JONES, the brother of William Preston's wife, MELVINA JONES, and there was also an EDWARD MORROW in Scott County, Arkansas, who may have been related to William, and may have even been a brother. William was known to be in SCOTT COUNTY, ARKANSAS from about 1880-1883 until his death in 1929.
