    1. E-mail backups
    2. N. L. Parnell
    3. Hello, all - To Richard Hollis' very good advice I would like to add my two cents' worth: What would your reaction be if you lost every single one of your e-mail files???? How many months or years of research would you lose? Soooo - when was the last time you backed up all of your e-mail correspondence to a separate floppy or other storage medium? I know I would be devastated if I lost my e-mail files, yet when you least expect it, it could easily happen. A lightening strike, a trashed-out hard drive, a well-meaning friend who wants to "tweak up" your system, a virus...you never know. Take a few minutes and either do a backup or get a hard copy (a printout) of your important e-mails. And as a corollary to Richard's advice - you never know when something will become important in your research! Happy hunting.................... Nancy Parnell np@staffnet.com

    3. Richard has some really good advice for all of us in this posting and I hope all of you will enjoy it as much as I have. If Stephen Compton Hollis' first marriage was in Scott Co. (as seems likely to me, too) it probably occurred between 1880 when he was listed single on the census and the courthouse fire of 22 May 1882, which destroyed the marriage records (among other records.) 3. Dawna, You might want to consider switching your subscription to ARScott-L to the Digest format so you will get fewer individual postings? When I go away for any length of time I usually unsubscribe from all lists so I don't face a lot of Email when I return. I'm sorry these "Brick Wall" postings have annoyed you so much; most of those that were forwarded were forwarded by ME because they were sent to me personally but intended for the list. My hope and belief is that some of the people on the list have been helped by these "Brick Wall" posts or at least have met some new "cousins." 1. SESSIONS & IVEY & GIPSON
    2. C. Holland
    3. Hi! I am looking for information regarding MARY SESSIONS, who was married to ELIJAH IVEY. I believe that MARY may have been the sister of JAMES A. SESSIONS. Both families were found in Hickman Township of Scott County in 1850. MARY and ELIJAH’S daughter, ANNA LOUISIANA IVEY, was my gr gr grandmother. In 1860 she was found in the WILLIAM C. GIPSON family in Tumlinson Township of Scott County. There were no IVEYS in Scott County in 1860. She married my gr gr grandfather, BENJAMIN C. HARRIS, about 1862-1865 in Waldron. B.C. HARRIS’ parents were ROBERT RILEY and JOANNAH (GIPSON) HARRIS. I believe that several GIPSON families moved from TENNESSEE sometime between 1840 and 1860, perhaps traveling with the HARRIS famiies. There is the possibility that some of these families may have been part CHEROKEE. What happened to the IVEY family before 1860? Who was MARY SESSIONS? Were all the 1860 Tennessee GIPSONS related? Some are even duplicates forwarded from other list...which is no fualt of the originator, but it would be nice to be able to tell one from another.
