    1. George Washington Terry and NANCY JANE LOWERY
    2. C. Holland
    3. Hi I am looking for information about the following family found in the 1900 Scott County, Arkansas census of James Twp. I am particularly interested in information about the Nancy J. listed as wife. I believe her to be a Nancy Jane Lowery, but I need confirmation on this information, date and place of marriage, and any information who her family was. Any other information on the other members of this family would also be appreciated. Thanks so much Charlene Holland 1900 Scott County Census James Township #85/85, George W. 1. MERRY CHRISTMAS
    2. Rick, Carla & Kyra Brigance
    3. Just wanted to let everyone know that I have certainly enjoyed helping those of you with lookup requests. It is a wonderful feeling to be able to help people. Of course, there are those with lookup requests in which I could not always find the wanted material. At times, I answered so many requests that they became difficult to sort out and remember. Old age can be quite a challenge! I have met lots of new folks and consider them newfound friends. Some I have e-mailed so many times, that I feel I know them personally. Charlene and Debra like to keep my research skills from getting rusty. The Marshalls in Hawaii will be Kyra's friends forever after the postcard and Barbie! Betty forwards requests to me at times when she runs up against a brick wall; it is great to be able to work together. Of course, the greatest appreciation on the list has got to go to Delaine for keeping everything organized and going. Thanks so much Delaine! Many thanks to you all, and may you all have a very MERRY CHRISTMAS and HAPPY NEW YEAR :) Carla Brigance & family

    3. I just want to thank all the people who have helped over the past year, especially Delaine Edwards, who has been a blessing! Special thanks to Betty Leeper and Carla Brigance for putting up with my constant barrage of lookups! You gals are great!! And thanks to all of you who have answered queries, and given me encouragement over the year. It is people like Delaine, Betty, Carla and all you others who make this such fun!! And a special special loving thanks to Barbara, Marcene, Betty, (several of those), Hartzell, Harvey, Carole, Sharon, Marilyn, Doug, Duane, Sandy, Rita, Virginia, Selene and all you other "cousins", close and distant, who have given me your friendship and help! 1. CUSHMAN
    2. Gene & Kathy Majors
    3. Hi all, I'm new to the list and this is my first posting. I noticed on the Scott Co WEB page that there were 2 UPDEGRAFFs listed as head of households. Does anyone have the 1900 Census for Scott Co. that can do a look-up and see if there is an Amariah Fenton CUSHMAN, age 77/78, listed in one of these households? Amariah Fenton CUSHMAN was my g-g-grandfather. His wife was an UPDEGRAFF. A.F. CUSHMAN died in Scott Co. in 1903 and was buried in the Jones Creek area. I'm also searching for his place of burial. Any and all assistance is appreciated. Gene Majors Placentia, CA gnkm@fea.net

    1. HENDRIX--WHITLOCK
    2. I am still searching for further information on John W Hendrix who married Rosa M Whitlock in 1901. John was born in 1879 and Rosa in 1881. I have no information on John's family. Thanks to Delaine, I have this information on Rosa's family: Mother, Mary E b. 1850, siblings: James F, Jessie E and Evaline. Mary E was widowed at the time of the census of Cauthron, Scott County in 1900. John and Rosa are the parents of Lottie Elvira and several other children. Georgia Aeverman

    3. Just want to wish all of you a Merry Christmas and to say a special "Thank You" to all the lookup volunteers who have helped to make the Scott County USGenWeb page successful: Shirley, Patti, Charlene, Betty, Sue, Carla and Dale - you are very much appreciated! Also thanks to Charlene for taking care of the 1998 obituaries in the Archives and to Barbara for checking the Email addresses on the Surname page throughout the year. Recently I've added indexes on the webpage for the 1880 and the 1900 Scott County census. About 10 Civil War pensions have now been added, as well. Thanks to those of you who have shared these files with us. Have a very Merry Christmas. My hope is that 1999 will bring you all a great many "new" ancestors. Delaine Edwards

    1. Lucinda Barnett
    2. SHARON STATON
    3. I was reading the land records of Scott Co. and ran across my Thomas Barnett having 80 acres of land 3N and 31W in 1875. Lower down it listed his daughter Lucinda Staton as having the same land except she had 120 acres filed in 1886. Could she have inherited 80 acres of this land and bought the rest or could he have accumulated more land that isn't registered and left it all to her. I'm not familiar with land records and there doesn't seem to be a Will listed for a Barnett. Does anyone know about these things and can help me. Sharon

The dining room table with clutter was spread With pedigree charts and with letters which said... "Too bad about the data for which you wrote Sank in a storm on an ill fated boat." Stacks of old copies of wills and the such Were proof that my work had become much to much. Our children were nestled all snug in their beds, While visions of sugarplums danced in their heads. And I at my table was ready to drop From work on my album with photos to crop. Christmas was here, and of such was my lot That presents and goodies and toys I forgot. Had I not been so busy with grandparent's wills, I'd not have forgotten to shop for such thrills. While others had bought gifts that would bring Christmas cheer; I'd spent time researching those birthdates and years. While I was thus musing about my sad plight, A strange noise on the lawn gave me such a great fright. Away to the window I flew in a flash, Tore open the drapes and I yanked up the sash. When what to my wondering eyes should appear? But an overstuffed sleigh and eight small reindeer. Up to the housetop the reindeer they flew, With a sleigh full of toys, and old Santa Claus too. And then in a twinkle, I heard on the roof The prancing and pawing of thirty-two hoofs. The TV antenna was no match for their horns, And look at our roof with hoof-prints adorned. As I drew in my head, and bumped it on the sash, Down the cold chimney fell Santa - KER-RASH! "Dear" Santa had come from the roof in a wreck, And tracked soot on the carpet, (I could wring his short neck!) Spotting my face, good old Santa could see I had no Christmas spirit you'd have to agree. He spoke not a word, but went straight to his work And filled all the stockings, (I felt like a jerk). Here was Santa, who'd brought us such gladness and joy; When I'd been too busy for even one toy. He spied my research on the table all spread "A genealogist!" He cried! (My face was all red!) "Tonight I've met many like you", Santa grinned. As he pulled from his sack a large book he had penned. I gazed with amazement - the cover it read "Genealogy Lines for Which You Have Plead." "I know what it's like as a genealogy bug," He said as he gave me a a great Santa Hug. "While the elves make the sleighful of toys I now carry, I do some research in the North Pole Library! A special treat I am thus able to bring, To genealogy folks who can't find a thing. Now off you go to your bed for a rest, I'll clean up the house from this genealogy mess." As I climbed up the stairs full of gladness and glee, I looked back at Santa who'd brought much to me. While settling in bed, I heard Santa's clear whistle, To his team which then rose like the down of a thistle And I heard him exclaim as he flew out of sight, "Family History is Fun! Merry Christmas! Goodnight!" --------------944AED73681360D01BE20DE5--

    2. Delaine Edwards
    3. There are township maps on the Scott Co. ARGenWeb page at http://www.rootsweb.com/~arscott/scott.htm. Just click on the link in the very first paragraph where it says "...township maps." There is not one on there for 1910 but the 1930 map is very similar to the 1910 and both Hickman and Lamb Townships are shown.
