    1. 1902 Newspaper
    2. Delaine Edwards
    3. For those of you who have written me to say you enjoy the old newspapers on the Scott Co. webpage, I've just uploaded a new one: The Wasp for 19 Dec 1902. This was not one of the better Scott Co. newspapers for local news, but there were a lot of ads for Christmas items for sale from the local merchants. Hope you'll enjoy it and maybe even find a familiar name or two in it. One more thing about the new Search Engine on the Scott Co. webpage: It does not cover the items that are stored in the Scott Co. Archives (Civil War records, more current obits, Goodspeed biographies, etc.) so if you don't find what you're looking for through a search of the webpage, you should also visit the Archives page - there's a link to it on the webpage. There IS a search engine for the Archives on the main ARGenWeb State page, but it covers all the counties in the state. Hopefully someday Rootsweb will give us a Search Engine for each county's Archives??? Delaine http://www.rootsweb.com/~arscott/scott.htm

I shall ask my sister If she knows anything about these individuals; three of Charlie's offspring are already dead(Cora, lilla, and Delbert). The other (name I can't recall) married a "Daniels" and may still be living. Delbert Thomas was my Bro-in-law. Edsel Richmond, 3577 Hwy8E, Mena Ar. 71953. 501 394 1691, edselric@ipa.net

    1. A new name
    2. I have just discovered a new name and date for my ancestors from Scott Co. I have a marriage of William Kuykendall Arnold of Scott Co. to Sophia Shults of Polk Co. in 1851. I wonder if Polk Co. has a similar group of interested people as does Scott Co.? W. Arnold is the son of Elijah Arnold, who resided in Scott Co. after coming there from Tenn. with his brother Levi. Elijah married a Cynthia Duff of Scott Co. (at least I think she was from Scott Co.)

    3. Barbara, Dutch Creek, in my earliest surviving newspaper articles there was a DUTCH CREEK MASONIC LODGE No. 267, F. & A. M. in early 1879. Some Early members metioned John H. Millard and Jasper N. Hill (Obits), A.A. Sanford, M.B. Havener, J.J. Jackson. In the early Papers Dutch Creek Township and Dutch Creek Valley are constantly in the news, so must have been a fairly thriving area. 2. Delaine Edwards
    3. Hi All, I hope most of you have had a chance to try out the new Search Engine on the Scott Co. webpage. I don't know how often Rootsweb is running the "indexer" through to pick up new information that's been added to the page, but do know they've run it within the last week. I find I get better results from it by searching for just a surname. It does pick up all the listings on the Surnames Page and on the Queries Page, so if you haven't entered a query, you might think about doing so? Delaine

    2. Hi everyone, I'm wondering if anyone knows about the history of Dutch Creek area. Dutch Creek is located on Highway 80 about 15 miles east of Waldron. It's basically situated between Mt. Moriah Cemetery and Union Hill Cemetery, but may expand outside of those two areas as well. I believe it's in James Township (may be wrong about that). I also believe it has in the past gone by Olio, Cardiff, and Haletown. Does anyone have any information and why so many names (I'm originally from there and I'm not sure). Barbara Hale Reynolds
