Hello All, I hope most of you check out the Scott Co webpage on a regular basis as new items that may be of interest are being added almost constantly. Last week a Historical Sketch of Scott Co., transcribed from WPA records by Bryce Self was added, as well as a new Civil War record. This week some of the cemetery records have been updated, new ones added and some cemetery pictures have been added. Don't forget to visit the Cemetery page while you're there and if you can add any information please contact me or the person in charge of that particular cemetery. Those of you with ancestors in the Logan County area, don't forget to subscribe to the new Logan County Mailing List. It's started off with a bang with several people sending in information about the surnames they're researching. Which makes me think: we haven't done a "Surname Rollcall" on here in quite awhile. With approximately 185 subscribers, there's a good chance at least one or two of them are interested in the same names you've been looking for. My surnames I am researching are Godwin and Wann. Ransom Godwin (NC) married Savannah Wann c. 1873 in Logan Co. The migrated from Jackson Co. after 1870 and lived in Scott Co. (now that area is Logan Co.) Savannah Wann was the dau. of Martha Archa and Samuel McGowan Wann. Ransom Godwin is the son of William and Mary Godwin from NC. William and Mary Godwin are my brick walls and hoping the more I learn about Ransom Godwin will lead me to his parents. Thanks, Cindy

I hope some of you are planning to attend the Parks community reunion this Saturday, May 22? It will be held at the old Parks schoolhouse, which is now the Senior Citizens Center, and begins about 9 a.m. Hope to see you there! If anyone else knows of a reunion of any Scott County family to be held over the next few months, hope you will post the information here. The Stinson Family Reunion will be held July 4th at the Paul Richards Civic Center at Howe, Oklahoma. If you're interested in this one, contact me and I'll give you further information and/or the names and phone numbers of those in charge. Does anyone else have a Civil War (or earlier) pension file to contribute to the Scott County Archives? Southern Claims Commission file? I'd like to thank those of you who have contributed information to this project and to remind others that I am perfectly willing to transcribe these records for you if you don't have time. There are also other volunteers willing to transcribe the information for you. You'll just need to mail a photocopy of the records. I know that these records do help others researching your family lines from the response I've had from my own files I've included in this project. Delaine Edwards
