    2. Thomas H. Payne
    3. Hello, My name is Thomas Payne and I am descended from another Payne line in Scott County. I have never yet found a connection to your Payne ancestors. My line first came to Scott Cnty in 1870 from Walker County, GA(NW GA). I have heard of some of those Walker Cnty, GA Paynes going to TX following the Civil War, but never knew who they were. Do you have any thing on your ancestor Rosella Payne's line prior to her folks Henry Baldwin Payne and Lue Vicy Hale? 3. Dexter. I show Elijah, b.Mar. 25 1817, and Enoch b. Oct.27 1819, both were brothers of Benjamin Brown[my gr gr grandad].Elijah is shown married to Sabria Shields. The 7th child of Elijah and Sabria must have been Enoch Dexter, named for Elijah's brother. Is this correct? Was Elijah b. in 1817 Elijah Dexter? or just Elijah? Letters written in 1860 refer to Uncle Elijah, and Uncle Enoch living in E.Tenn. They were Nancy C.Brown's uncles[she was my gr grandmother]. Please clarify, or correct this lineage. Thank you SO MUCH! On another thought - were your TN ancestors pro- Union or Confederate in the Civil War? Ours were split. Savannah Taylor Allen is living with her son Andrew Allen in her parents household in the 1880 census. The census was taken June 9, 1880. Other researchers and descendants believe Savannah was married to William Andrew Allen, but his parents have not been determined - nor what happened to him. Did he die or did they divorce? Since there are no marriage records before 1882 this makes this particular family difficult to trace. My interest lies in the fact I believe Beverly A.
