    2. Betsy, I don't have a concrete answer for you but I've heard several times that families did indeed leave the deep south for Scott County because of post-war conditions. Some only to find it worse. I've heard that about my Hutcheson family who lived in Franklin County, Alabama before removing to Scott County. In a message dated 7/18/2010 1:10:41 P.M. Central Daylight Time, [email protected] writes: Hi, Mr. Payne, I know nothing about the Paynes, but noticed that they went to Scott Co. in 1870 from Walker Co., GA. It interests me, because my GR GR Grandfather and many of his children moved from Walker Co. to Scott Co. in 1869. I have to wonder if they were acquainted. Gr.Gr.Grandfather was Benjamin Brown, who already had one son living in Scott Co. since the 1850's. Was there a land sale? or some special reason so many folks from E.Tennessee(the Browns) and GA went there? Any one know the history of that migration? Perhaps the post war conditions in N.GA were so bad? Thanks, Betsy Smith ----- Original Message ----- From: Thomas H. 2. Thomas H. Payne
    3. Dear ? One of the things that makes this hobby (genealogy) so interesting AND frustrating is the common names used. My William Payne was born in VA in 1780 and his wife Sarah Manas(Maness) was also born in VA in 1787. They moved to E. TN in about 1805-1810 to Hawkins County TN(probably NC or State of Franklin, when they came). That is about all I know and those facts have been substantiated by census, tax records and personal ffidavits they both made when applying for Bounty Lands in NW GA. in 1839-40. Thanks for the clues and info. I will include it in my Family TreeMaker data. My phone number in Tulsa is 918-298-5132 Please call if you want to talk and bounce names off each other. 3. Hi, Mr. I thank you for any documents and/or knowledge you have of any of them. My specific interest is in Rose Adeline Woodel Fry, born 1845 in AR, died 6 May 1974 in Scott County Arkansas. She was married to Robert Fry's son Henry Patrick Fry, who also died in Scott County in 1886. Rose has a gravestone in Coop Prairie Cemetery, but we have yet to find burial for Henry. I feel like he is in an unmarked grave near Rosey A. Fry. Is there any record at all of unmarked graves in Coop Prairie Cemetery? I thank you so much for any assistance you can give me. 3. Re: Fry family buried in Coop Prairie Cemetery: It is correct that the records that I have ( I think I have all the printed records available) do not show the Fry that you are seeking in Coop Cemetery. This is a large and well maintained cemetery in Mansfield ( Smack dab on both sides of the highway). I would imagine that there are people in Mansfield that are familiar with it. I would suggest placing a notice in the local paper regarding your interest in "lost" graves. Worth a try.
