Fred, Thank you for the probate information. That may be a big help and is certainly on my list of things to do when in Malvern next trip. Don't suppose you just happen to have a photo copy of page 408? :-) One note about John and Priscilla. The John Gentry who married Priscilla was born in TN. He moved to Carroll County Arkansas and is present there with wife Priscilla in 1860. The John Gentry I am researching was born in GA and is a well documented son of Tyree Gentry of SC, GA, TN and AR. His second wife was Eliza Lowrance a widow with children who is found with John in the 1850 Census. And as you say he married Delilah in Saline county and apparently died there or in Hot Spring County in about 1864/1865. Unfortunately we do not have a clue as to who John Married first but we think it was someone from the families that all came to Arkansas about 1817 from Stewart County TN. If I were to guess I would think that Permillia might have been her name but I cannot prove it. Thanks for taking the time to pass along this very useful information. I will let you know what I find. I do have some notes on John Gentry that may be of use to you: His first wife was Priscilla Graham, md 1 Oct 1812, Jefferson Cy, TN (Jefferson Cy Clerk records) He appears to have a second wife, Eliza. (1850 census, Hot Spring Cy). And then there is his third wife as you stated, Delilah Taylor. I?d say the reason John disappeared after his marriage is that he died. His son, Samuel F Gentry, was appointed administrator of his estate in Hot Spring Cy. 9 April 1866, HS Cy Probate Book E, pg 408. Also recorded in Saline Cy Probate Books. I have a note with no sourcing that John died in 1864. Fred Groth San Antonio, TX
