It could get interesting. I recall some time ago that I looked at the census that had G.W. listed as Sims and I found no Sims anywhere around where Emeline was living. I would think that people didn't travel long distances to meet people and that if Emeline met somebody named Sims and got pregnant and had a child that it would be someone local as the father or someone from the family that had the Sims name and she took them in. I know it's far fetched because I still want to believe that Emeline was G.W.'s mother. I know that jeremiah wasn't the father. However, if G.W. was a Sims, why did he abandon the name? As for trying to make sense of piecing together families via pregnancy: I have a g.g.g.grandmother who had 6 children....all by brothers of the same family, but she never married one of them....and, a son by someone of another/different last name. She gave some the children the last name of their father and some her own last name. So, her children were siblings/cousins simultaneously!!
