In 1862 Lewis was a Federal Prisoner on Johnson Island Ohio, He was an officer and records were kept as to who the officers corresponded with. I found a posting that Lewis Mauney knew James McClung before they came to Saline Co, and that James McClung was from Alabama. Lewis is said to have written 2 letters from federal prison to James McClung in Saline Co. The posting listed name of Lewis's wife an other correct infomation. Would like to know if James surved the war?,Lewis got home but died in 1865.Do you know the family James McClung might be from. I know there was a Malinda McClung a widow in the 1870 census.a couple of McClungs were listed in the military from Saline Co. Hope we can connect.
