THis is the area just north of Salem and slighly to the east of Avilla. Older brother Franklin also served during the war in Co C 3rd Ark Cav and Co D Hawthorne/Cocke's 39th Ark Infantry. Looks like they move around a bit. The father Henry, was active in the pre war militia and probably continued to serve in the 18th Militia and local Home Guards which existed in Saline county throughout the war.
