    3. By George, It's Simply Revolutionary! Now you can research for Federal Land Records on the Internet! http://www-glorecords.blm.gov Access to Federal land patents issued by the General Land Office (GLO) prior to 1908 for the states of Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Indiana, Louisiana, Michigan, Mississippi, Missouri, Minnesota, Ohio, and Wisconsin is now available on the Internet. You can search the GLO database for each state, select a record, and view the corresponding land patent. Of course, the search speed and clarity of the image will depend on your modem and software. To achieve the best results from your query on our Website, complete as many search fields as possible. The screen displaying the results of your search can show only 50 records, so the more information you can supply, the better your chances of finding the family land. Once a record is located, you can view the image. And, by completing a return e-mail, you can request a certified copy of the land patent be sent to you. The fee for a certified copy of a Federal Land Patent is $1.50. The Internet is just one of the resources available for researching Federal Land Records. The databases for the most of these land records are also available on CD ROMS that you may purchase from the Government Printing Office for about $15 each. Of course, the BLM's GLO Access Team will be happy to answer your questions about the more than 5 million Federal land patent documents that are maintained at the Eastern States Office in Springfield, Virginia.
