    1. Mars Hill Cemetery
    2. Thank you, everyone, for responding to my previous queries. I strongly suspect that my MCCOOL great-grandfather is buried in Mars Hill Cemetery (per an e- mail that referenced the Cemeteries of Saline County books by Mrs. Barber). Anyway, the book only lists: MCCOOL, Daniel Rand, Pvt. October 31, 1894 - June 5, 1948 I need to get more information about this person. He is not listed in SSDI so he probably did not have a Social Security Number (died too early). There are a few other MCCOOLs listed in the same cemetery: Henry B (his brother, I believe), Mary Ellen (his mother?), a Baby Girl (d. 1975), and Ruby (no dates). Are they all buried close together? I have requested my grandfather's birth record, which should confirm whether or not he is his father. While I wait, I would still like to find answers to these questions: * is Rand his full middle name? is it short for Randolph? * the Pvt. probably means that he was a Private during WWI, right? * does his tombstone have additional information on it? I guess at this point I wonder if there is a very generous person that could visit the cemetery for me. * Alternatively, is there another source? Is the cemetery part of the Mars Hill Chuch? If so, is there a recommended contact name? * who are his family members? is Mary Ellen MCCOOL his mother? is Henry his brother? who is his father? spouse? children? I suspect that one of his sons is Charles Mathis (Charlie), my grandfather, born in 1920. * then I would be interested in any related information whatsoever. What did he do, for work? How did he die? Where did he live? go to school? serve in WWI? Basically, any info about him at all. Of course, I would also love to contact any descendants. Thank you so much, Charles McCool 1853 Post Oak Trail Reston, VA 20191-5218 [email protected]
