Hello all. The Benton Services Center used to be a State Hospital for the insane. I remember because I used to visit and aunt and uncle who lived across the highway from it back in the 40's, when I was a kid. I was always a little afaid of the place. I think the worst cases were kept at Little Rock at the "White House on the Hill." I think the original building at Little Rock was torn down years ago. Another memory is of the patients of the Benton Center who were not in lock up and were allowed to wander around some. They had gallon buckets of blackberries to sell when they were in season. I guess that was pocket money for them.
