    1. Thanks for the JACK-POT !!!
    2. Dear Folks, First I want to thank you all for helping me discover important information about my WILLEY family. I had written before, asking about the Pipkins Cemetery in Saline county, Arkansas. I have family members: Leonard LeRoy Willey, and William R.(Billy) WILLEY, buried in this cemetery. The headstones read: Leonard LeRoy WILLEY 1908 - 1930 (Note: His headstone also has "Father" on it. I know that Leonard was the "son" of W.R. WILLEY, so I'm a bit bewilder, since I am unaware of any marriage or children that Leonard had, so as to have the title "Father" inscribe on his headstone.) W. R. WILLEY 1882 - 1940 (Note: This is the inscription on my great uncle William R. WILLEY's headstone. With your help I was able to confirm my findings. about his burial place in Pipkins Cemetery with his son Leonard, and his wife Eva (Roberts) Willey, HICKS.) With your collective help, I was able to confirm that my great aunt is buried there also!! And there is a dear lady from the area named Stacy, who is going to take pictures of the headstones for me !! (THanKS Stacy !!) My great aunt was Eva (Roberts) Willey, HICKS: born: Jan.13,1883 in Texas died: Sept.12,1961 in Saline Co., Arkansas married: June 26,1904 in Washita Co., OK Spouse: William R. WILLEY Married: Mr.HICKS (date unknown) after W.R.WILLEY died Children of Eva (HICKS) & W.R.WILLEY: * Leonard Willey - * Thelma ? Willey - * Mildred ? Willey- ( Lived in Saline Co.,ARK. married with children -- names unknown to me.) * Richard Willey- * Dale Willey - I contacted a former Pipkins Cemtery caretaker, who actually met and knew my WILLEY family when he was a boy !! His name is David Pelton. He lives right by the Pipkins Cemetery on Congo Road. He said my WILLEY's lived in one of the old communities of Congo, Salem, New Hope or Benton, but was not sure which one. By the way -- He told me his mother gave some of her farm land to the cemetery in 1969, before she died, because it was already almost full. If she had not given the land, the cemetery would have been closed, because it was almost filled by 1969. (God bless her soul.) Mr Pelton told me there used to be a Methodist church to service the area. Now the church (still operating in Salem) and has a big camp ground. They also have pictures of old church grounds; buildings, and people of the congregation hanging in the church foyer !!! (I'm hoping there are pictures of my WILLEY folks there.) This church serviced the area by going from one community to the next by way of a circuit preacher. In the evenings, they would ride to someones home for a "singing" and lemonaide. Mr Pelton said my WILLEY's rode in a wagon, with Mr. Willey setting up high, and Eva setting down real low in the wagon. I can understand why...... Eva was a VERY very large woman. ( And the poor dear suffered a lot from being so over weight.) I was able to discover that Ashby's Funeral Home took care of Eva HICKS funeral. Sadly, they had no record of who paid for it. Though the records do say Eva HICKS religion was Nazerine when she died, Ashby's had no info on her children or grandchildren. Can someone check the Sept.12,1961 newspaper obits for Eva HICKS ? Perhaps it would give up some clues about her surviving family. Also, does anyone have info on Nazerine Churches in the Saline County area ?? Eva lived in Alexander in 1944. She may have still been living there in 1961, when she died. Is there a Methodist or Nazerine church there ?? If so, they may have records of her church attendance, with her family. As I said before, I would appreciate any help in finding my "lost" cousins. Any hints -- Any suggestions -- Any info could be very helpful. I have lots of pictures and family info I hope to share with them. Grateful Regards, Sharon
