    1. THOMPSON or DURBIN / DURBAN
    2. Greetings to all !! My name is Sharon. I live in Texas. The folks on this mailing list have already been so helpful to me. I really appreciate all your kindness in sharing information about Saline County. The info I have received from you folks has helped me to discover new information about my beloved cousins, whom our family has lost touch with !! In addition to thanking you, I'd appreciate our members taking a look at some of this "new" info. I am sure hoping that (with your help) I will finally find my dear cousins children and grandchildren !! (Please read on >>>) This is what I've learned with your help: My beloved great-aunt, Eva ROBERTS -WILLEY- HICKS died in Saline County, Arkansas Sept.12,1961. She had been a member of the Salem Methodist church in the early 1920s. She apparently was a member of a Nazerine church when she died in 1961. Ashbys Funeral Home took care of the burial arrangements. And BAXLEY's Monument company was commissioned to engrave her headstone. The gravestone was paid for by Eva HICKS daughter. Her daughter's name is Mildred THOMPSON. I had knewn my Aunt Eva had a daughter named Mildred, but I did not know what Mildred's married name was. I know that our dear cousin Mildred THOMPSON had children, but sadly, I don't know any of their names (for sure). Mildred THOMPSON had lived in Alexander area in the 1940s, from what I am told by my family. Some of her children may still be there... (I just don't know.) So, before I start calling long distance, to every THOMPSON in the Saline county area, I just thought I would call upon the kindness of our list members again. (>smiling<) Does any one know of this THOMPSON family ??? (Please read on >>>) Mildred THOMPSON had brothers that I would like to mention. One brother was Richard R. WILLEY. I discovered last night that he died only last year in WA. He had been in the logging business in Saline Co., with his brothers -- Leonard and Dale WILLEY and their father W.R. (Billy) WILLEY. I will be submitting Richard's obit to the list later. But want to give you new info on Mildred's brother Leonard LeRoy WILLEY. (He is buried in the Pipkins Cemetery by their parents: W.R.WILLEY & Eva W. HICKS.) In the early 1960s the BAXLEY monument company was also commissioned to engrave a headstone for Leonard WILLEY. It reads: "Father" Leonard LeRoy Willey 1908 - 1930 Virginia DURBAN or DURBIN paid for this gravestone in the early 1960s, according to BAXLEY's. I suspect she was the daughter of Leonard WILLEY. I am hoping to find her and or her children, to comfirm her relations with Leonard WILLEY. But, I have found only one family living in the Saline County area with the name DURBIN. I have tryed to contact them several times this week already, without success. Purportly these folks (Phillip & Candy Durbin) are connected in some way to this lady -- Virginia DURBAN / DURBIN. Does anyone in our group know this couple or ANY other folks named DURBAN / DURBIN who might be connected to my Virginia DURBAN / DURBIN ??? If you can, please help me find my "lost" cousins. Some may still carry the THOMPSON surname, and some may carry the surname of DURBIN or DURBAN. I have so many lovely old pictures and stories to share with these cousins, as well as lots of loving family -- Just longing to be reunited with them. As always...... With Grateful Regards, Sharon (Houston - Kingwood, Texas) [email protected]
