    3. Dear Charlene, No doubt you have heard by now of the old mining town named Silver City in southwestern New Mexico. More likely your ancestor died on the trail to Virginia City, Nevada, where the fabulous Comstock Lode was discovered in June 1859. Many attribute tax revenue from Comstock's river of silver backing up Lincoln's greenbacks with winning the war for the Union. Speaking of The war, we may be connected through my Granduncle SQUIRE ALLEN BRAZIL (1841-c.1863) who died of measles while in Confederate service. His widow was the former MARY JANE HOLLAND whom he married in Saline County 27 March 1859. Several of the remaining Brazils in Central Arkansas descend from this couple. Carey
