Hi all, I need the name of a newspaper, and or look up in the book: "Saline County Obituaries and Death Notices, 1823-1930" by Eddie G. Landreth. Would someone please look up Traskwood, 1879-1880, for my great grandmother. I'm not sure if she died in child birth, epidemic, disease or natural disaster. Obituary or death notice for: Mrs. James H. FENTER. Her first name was Emily. I don't know her maiden name for sure. My grandfather's Social Security Registration listed Emily EDGERTON for his mother's maiden name and someone told me they thought it might be Emily DOWDY. Her husband was James Henry FENTER, born abt. 1846-1847 in AR. James is a 33 year old widower on the 1880 Census. (I believe this James to be the same one living in Saline Township, Hot Springs County, AR, with Elizabeth WILLIAMS, on the 1850 AR Census. This James may also be the same having a farm in Traskwood, Saline County at Sec 7, Twp 3S, Rng 15W, 80 acres, 1884/11/20. Emily and family lived in Traskwood, Saline County, AR. She gave birth to three children, all born in Arkansas: Safrona, born abt. 1873-1874 (6 years old on 1880 Census) Lina, born abt. 1875-1876 (4 years old on 1880 Census) or her name could also be spelled Tina, Lena, Liza or Laura. Henry Walter, born 2 March 1879 If you can't find the obit./death notice, could you please tell me what newspaper(s) were being published in the area at that time. I found a listing of the Nichols Cemetery, now located in Grant Co, but used to be in Saline County, about 4 1/2 miles North of Poyen, on highway 229. It was submitted by Harold Dean Davis to "The Saline" September 1991, Vol 6, No. 3, Pg. 122. In the listing were FENTER names that could belong to me and none of the grave markes had dates: Jim FENTER, Jimmy FENTER, Fronie FENTER, Liza FENTER, Mary FENTER, Charlie FENTER. This cemetery is listed as also having other names: Simmons Cemetery; Jim Fenter Cemetery. (This cemetery was also listed by the Hot Spring County Historical Society in their Volume IV, pg. 89, about 1978 "Borderline Cemeteries, Headstone History Cemetery Inscriptions. Thank you for any help you can give on my "brick wall." Jan Fenter Portland, OR [email protected]
