I believe you have two John Nelsons merged. My great,great grandfather was John Nelson who married Nancy Burnsides on October 28, 1824. She died on April 2, 1844 in North Carolina. In the fall of 1848 John took his seven surviving daughters and moved to Arkansas. After his girls were all married, he married Lucinda Ashby of Benton, Saline County. He was born July 29, 1799, not 1796 and he did die and is buried in Saline County, AR but it was on May 16, 1871, not 1859. As far as the name, I have never seen the middle name of Harvey in any of the records I have had access to, and have not run across anything indicating his occupation was herbal doctor. I would be interested in knowing more about your Dr. Nelson though to see if he fits in my line anywhere.
