I didn't get anywhere near Alexander that I'm aware of, but I can tell you that a lot of the really old tombstones in the cemeteries I visited were broken and/or no longer legible. It looks like in some rare cases they're well preserved as possible, but I'm sure that due to tornadoes and vandalism, a bunch are missing, and only the concrete bases are left. I wish you luck also. I had a great time, and was able to retrieve quite a bit of information. While on your trip, make sure you go to a local library. I visited the one in Greenwood. They have no microfilm at all, and the newspaper office suffered a tornado and then a fire in the 50's and 60's, so they don't have any from that year. The lady there gave me the name & address of the Arkansas History Commission One Capitol Mall Little Rock, AR 72201 501-682-6900 Ronnie Watts is the microfilm section and John Ferguson is the state historian. I haven't looked for them on line yet. I also went to the library at Benton, the county seat of Saline. They do have microfilm available. I needed only obits at that point, because our local library has been blessed with all kinds of microfilm for the censuses for every state and year. We've got a great history section! Good Luck, All Charlie Ward
