I may have a "galvanized Yankee" in the family. I need suggestions to prove or disprove that CSA soldier O.C. Dortch (Dorch) and USA soldier Olsey C. Dortch were one in the same person (or not). O.C. Dortch served in the 12th Arkansas Infantry and in Cocke's Regmt. He apparently enlisted at Rockport in June 1862 and after serving in the 12th, deserted at Bayou Meto, AR on August 12 1863. Olsey C. Dortch "enrolled" at Benton into the 4th Union Cavalry on Nov. 24 th 1863. What counties were Rockport, Bayou Meto and Benton in during the Civil War.
