    1. 1880 mortality schedule
    2. Ian Curley
    3. Hi. I was wondering if, by any chance, anyone has access to the 1880 Saline County mortality schedule. I'm trying to figure out when and where my gggrandfather, James H. PEDEN (Paden, Payden, Peyton, Peadon...) died. He died sometime between leaving MS in 1876 to move to Saline County and the time the 1880 census was taken. It's at least possible that he might be on the 1880 mortality schedule. If anyone has the mortality schedule and could check to see if he is listed, I would very much appreciate it. I didn't get anywhere near Alexander that I'm aware of, but I can tell you that a lot of the really old tombstones in the cemeteries I visited were broken and/or no longer legible. It looks like in some rare cases they're well preserved as possible, but I'm sure that due to tornadoes and vandalism, a bunch are missing, and only the concrete bases are left. I wish you luck also. I had a great time, and was able to retrieve quite a bit of information. While on your trip, make sure you go to a local library. I visited the one in Greenwood. They have no microfilm at all, and the newspaper office suffered a tornado and then a fire in the 50's and 60's, so they don't have any from that year. The lady there gave me the name & address of the Arkansas History Commission One Capitol Mall Little Rock, AR 72201 501-682-6900 Ronnie Watts is the microfilm section and John Ferguson is the state historian. I haven't looked for them on line yet. I also went to the library at Benton, the county seat of Saline. They do have microfilm available. I needed only obits at that point, because our local library has been blessed with all kinds of microfilm for the censuses for every state and year. We've got a great history section! 1. Warning!! a "NEW" VIRUS
    2. Hello, I normally don't send emails about such things as a computer virus, but I thing this info is worth sending. There is a new virus reported late last night, to be the most destructive ever. Every time it hits a new computer the words in the subject line are randomly generated, so it never looks the same coming in twice. The really bad thing about this virus is how destructive it really is. Once infected, the virus begins wiping your hard drive and destroying all files. You can still identify this virus by the following: 1. It has the FW / or Forward command to begin the subject line 2. And the attachment always ends in .vbs As mentioned in my previous e-mail virus alert, be very careful about attachments that you are not expecting or recognize as legitimate. If youre afraid you have received this virus: 1. Dont open the attachment 2. Delete it immediately 3. Then empty the deleted items folder from your e-mail system 4. Contact an ISG person If you open this virus, unplug your computer immediately, dont even try to shut it down, you dont have the time to do this. Than call an ISG person for help. Good Luck and be safe ~ Sharon

    1. Caleb Brothers 1788-1853
    2. Glenda Brothers
    3. Hi All, Let me know what you think!!!! Just got back from Salt Lake on a research trip. Think I have found the proof that Job Brothers', Caleb isn't the one who was in Ala. and died in Saline Co. Ark. 10 Sept 1853. On micro film I found the following. Job Brothers Estate. 1800 lists children living Sept 1809 they include Mary Cartwright wife of Robert Cartwright, Caleb, Lemuel, (who d. 1826 and Caleb was adm to Lemuels estate), Zacariah, Deborah, Susannah and Durant. Job's settlement of Estate was REcorded in Bk D. folio 289 on Sept Term 1809. He doesn't mention Ezekial the one known brother of our Caleb (That proof is in the War of 1812 Records, where Mary Jones Brothers, wife of Ezekial stated that he finished out our Caleb's "hitch" in the service, and that they were brothers) that died in ARK. and Ezekial and our Caleb are both listed in Saint Clair Co. Al. 1820 Census. [There is a Caleb Brothers listed in the Pasquotank Co. NC census also in 1820] 1830 census shows a Caleb Brothers in both St Clair Ala and in Pasquotank Co. NC.... 1840 No Caleb in NC and only ours in Ala. Then I find the estate records of Caleb Brothers in Pasquotank Co. NC... Where he died intestate Oct 1831 in Pasquotank Co. NC. Stating the Widow was Charolotte Brothers. and children were Stacy wife of Pritchard Brothers, Nancy, Durant and Emily. Pritchard Brothers was guardian for the 3 minor children of Caleb Brothers, Namely Nancy, Durant, and Emily. Estate of Caleb by John White, Administrator, Book I p. 166 March 1833. (Nancy may have been d/o William Brothers who Caleb was guardian of, I couldn't tell) Anyway... We have none of these children listed for our Caleb. and our Caleb married Mary Henslee in Saint Clair Co. Ala. Dec. 20, 1846, which is after Job's Caleb died. What connects the Caleb who died in 1831 with Job is that amoungst his estate papers is a paper showing that he, Caleb was Administrator of the Estate of Lemuel Brothers dec'd this was dated January 14th 1826. Lemuel is mentioned in Job's Estate papers as a son of Job's and that makes him Caleb's brother. Also I believe it is in the Quaker records that Job's Caleb married Charlotte. I don't have that record in front of me so I may have the source incorrect on where it is stated. Now I am not ruling out the fact that the 2 Calebs may be cousins, ours being born ca 1788 in NC (according to 1850 Ark Census) and Job's Caleb b.15 Nov 1787, Pasquotank Co. NC. .... I haven't gotten all the families straightened out that were in NC in 1790, but there is a Thomas, Thomas Jr. and a Lewis Brothers amoung others... then in 1810 South Carolina there is Lewis and Thomas listed. These are the 2 I am looking real hard at. A Lewis Brothers gets land for war duty in Ark. A Thomas Brothers' wife Lavina shows up in Ala. And then there is the part about a Thomas Nails Brothers being buried in Moody Chapel in Ala. don't have the dates in front of me but they make him tooooo old to have been Lavinas husband, and he was supposed to have died in Louisianna or Mississippi.

    2. Ron Adams
    3. Linda, I'm sorry but I have no info on the Anderson family. I just wanted to make sure you are aware that when Grant County was formed in 1869, part of it was transferred from Saline County. The section of land you referenced (Sec 5, T6S, R13W) is in Grant County. It's about a mile and a half west of the present-day town of Cross Roads. My wife's ancestors lived in Davis Twp., Saline Co. in 1860 but in Davis Twp, Grant Co. in 1870. His Land Entry Record shows he purchased the land in 1857 while it was in Saline Co. but present Bureau of Land Management records show it under Grant County. Happy hunting! Just wanted you to be aware you may have to search in both counties. Ron Adams Neighbor to Historical Fort Atkinson that overlooks the Missouri River Valley from Nebraska.

    1. Anderson Family
    2. I'm hoping somebody has some information on my Isaac Anderson and his wife Julia Ann Foute. They came from Cass and Floyd Counties, GA between 1850 and 1860. They were listed in the 1860 Saline County census in 1860. Living with them were Jacob, age 20, Cornelias J, 17, and Hannah, 14. This is a copy of a land record for him: Land record: 10/1/1860 No. 12517 Whereas Isaac Anderson of Saline County, Arkansas has deposited in the general land office of the United States, a certificate of the register of the land office at Little Rock whereby it appears that full payment has been made by the said Isaac Anderson. Act of Congress of the 24th of April, 1820 entitled, "an act making further procision for the sale of the Public Lands" for: The SouthEast quarter of the SouthEast quarter of Section five in Township six South of Range thirteen West in the District of Lands subject to sale at Little Rock, Arkansas containing 40 acres. ======= I think they lived in the area called Cherry Grove. I don't know when Isaac or Julia died. I would love to know where they are buried. Please contact me if you have any information. Thanks, Linda A

    1. Seeking J.B. & Mildred THOMPSON
    2. Greetings!! I am seeking info on J.B. THOMPSON and his wife Mildred (Willey) THOMPSON, and their children. Mildred is my beloved cousin. Unfortunately, our family lost touch with her. I have never meet her dear children, but would very much like to find them. (She had several.) Sadly I don't even know their names. INFORMATION: Mildred (Willey) THOMPSON was born about 1915 in Texas or OK. Spouse: J.B. THOMPSON Her parents: William R. WILLEY & Eva (ROBERTS) WILLEY (HICKS). Her siblings: Leonard Leroy WILLEY - b. abt 1909; d. August 6, 1930 in AR. Thelma WILLEY - abt 1917 (*Lived in Norman, OK. and Alaska.) Richard R. WILLEY - b. 1924; d. Sept.24,1998 in WA. Dale WILLEY - b. abt 1926 NOTES: I know that the family all lived in Saline County, Arkansas for some time. Mildred THOMPSON and her family used to live near, and help care for her mother in the Benton, Saline County area. Her mother Eva was a "very" heavy set woman, who died in 1961. Both of Mildred THOMPSON's parents, and her brother Leonard are buried in the Pipkins Cemetery, in Saline County, Arkansas. The THOMPSON children would all be grown, (likely with grown kids and grandchildren of their own, by now). Some of these folks may still live in or near Benton, in Saline County. I have called a lot of THOMPSONs in the area. They have all been very kind, and tryed to help me find my family. ( ' To bad they weren't my cousins!) PLEA : If you know anyone in the Benton, or surrounding area of Saline County, Arkansas, who is a THOMPSON; was a THOMPSON; or who has THOMPSON family connections -- Would you please, pass on my information to them?? And by chance, you know or find my dear family, and "they" don't have internet access -- Would "you" be so kind to help us make a connection ?? Of course, any suggestions or information about my family would be appreciated. I look forward to hearing back from our Saline County Researchers. In the meantime, would you all please.... Ask a THOMPSON about my family ??? Thanks!! Grateful Regards, Sharon
