    1. County held Death Records?
    2. Robin's Nest
    3. Does the county Recorder's office hold death certificates that may not necessarily have been also recorded with the State office? I sent to the State office for a death record of 1918/Saline Co. and they returned a cert of "no record." I am sure the record exists, but could it be in the county office only? Where do I write? While indexing the coroner's inquisition records for this site (they will be posted soon), I came across a file, which contains two original death certificates from 1916 of two brothers by the name of Davidson. I've made contact with the state to see about having these put on record, as they were never recorded with the Department of Health. I will be happy to make copies for anyone! Your help will be appreciated. I know that most of you are into genealogy as I am and if you have ever visited an older cemetery, you know what deplorable condition many of them are in. Are you aware that many states permit building on cemeteries if they are beyond a certain age? Firms will bulldoze right over headstones without so much as an "I'm sorry that we're burying your ancestors and their history will be permanently lost but that's business." It's too late for many family gravesites and older cemeteries but something can be done to preserve what is left and I would appreciate it if you would take just a moment of your time to help. He is a VERY busy man and I don't know how vast his staff is...plus, there may be a charge. Can't hurt to ask! Since I did the 'looking' myself, there was only a charge per copy (.25 each). Use of the equipment, etc was free. Also, the Arkansas Historical Library, in downtown Little Rock, has ALL the County Census, birth/death records, marriage, etc., etc., that are currently available. (Was there, too!). Bren

    2. I had a wonderful time visiting my family in Arkansas during the Memorial Day Week. I got to meet some cousins and second cousins I've never seen before, let alone even knew of their existance! I hope the trip will help to bring our families closer together. During the trip, I visited the Buffalo Cemetery in Boles, Scott Co, Ar, Duncan Cemetery, Waldron (Scott Co?) and Mt Harmony, Sebastian Co, AR I want to go back to record all the names of these cemeteries some day. Perhaps next year. Anyway, these are the CATES and, I think, allied lines of the CATES families. I have pictures of most of these tombstones, but not all. 3. Hi. I had such good luck finding McGrew connections on this list, I thought I'd try tracing a couple more of my loose ends. First, I found this marriage record on the Saline County website and was wondering if by chance anyone knows anything about this couple: LEWIS, Edward M. of Traskwood, Saline Co., AR age 21 and KELLER, Mary of Traskwood, Saline Co., AR age 18 married on May 18, 1890 by Menefee, J.J., MG surety bond by Torry, J.A. Bk. G., p. 77 I think this was very likely my great-grandfather's brother, Edward M. LEWIS, born 24 Jun 1869 in Knox County, OH, died 7 Feb 1937, who is in the family Bible. Does anybody know anything about these Lewises? Now to the second question...Right above the entry for Edward M. Lewis is this: LEWIS, Benjamin F. of Bryant, Saline Co., AR age 57 and PRESTON, Emily E., Mrs of Bryant, Saline Co., AR age 37 married on 16 Apr 1893 by Lewis, D.F., JP surety bond by Torry, John A. Bk. G., p. 406 I've been wondering if that could possibly be my great-great grandfather, Benjamin Franklin LEWIS, born 23 Oct 1827 in Mt. Vernon, OH , died 2 May 1894 somewhere. If so, he shaved about 10 years off his age, but I thought it was interesting that the bondsman was the same for both these records. I'd be very interested in any information about this Benjamin F. LEWIS. Finally, my grandmother's sister, Myrtie Irene LEWIS married Henry GOULD on 12 Feb 1912. They lived in Bauxite, AR. Are there any connections out there to Henry and Myrtie? I'd appreciate any information. Margaret Curley [email protected] Minden, NV
