I still need to list all the children of Hoyt and Mae Bell. If you don't mind me asking, which grandchild of Hoyt's do you belong to? Do you still live in Arkansas? I do believe I met your grandmother once in Benton (1978,I think) when I spent a weekend with Herbert and Mary Newcomb while I was attending Harding in Searcy. I had met most of the "sisters" at one time or another. Keep in touch!

A great-great+ aunt, Ophelia Ann Edwards, married Tilford Hawker Cloud in 1878 - it was a second marriage; his father was George J. Cloud (b.1823), a brother to your Madison (b.1820). I know that their father was Jeremiah Cloud, born about 1782 in Virginia, and died in 1855 in Saline County. Jeremiah's wife was Karen Berry, born about 1797 in Virgina, died about 1862 in Saline County. Another brother was Prior Berry Cloud, b.1818. Assume you have marriage, birth/death dates/locations for these people? Let me know of gaps and I'll try to fill them in. Do you have any reciprocal info? Thanks -

Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/1V.2ADE/343.1.1.1.1.1.1 Message Board Post: Yes, I am Dan's daughter, Budge's granddaughter. That's very interesting about Lonzo being in Galveston. I've never heard that. I do have a copy of a picture taken of him in Plano around that time. The name of the photography studio is on the picture and the place is listed as Plano. I'm guessing Plano would have been a very small town at that time. You may have a copy of the picture but if not, I can email a copy to you. My email is dsa74@hotmail.com I have been searching for William (Bill) Richards for a very long time with little success. I've found no evidence that Sarah ever filed for any type of pension from his service on either side. Lonzo's brother, Uncle Floyd, had three daughters all of which are no longer living. Two of them, Sarabel and Mary Ann, worked on a family history. This is from their writeup: William Marion: Little is known of this Richards family except that William Marion (Oct. 24, 1841-Aug. 12, 1895) was born in East St. Louis, Illinios and came to Arkansas in 1872. He was one of 3 boys. He cared for his mother after his father died. He then came to Arkansas as a "Huckster" on the Baltimore Bridge Company and was a member of the crew that built the first railroad bridge in Saline County (south of Benton over the Saline River) for the old Iron Mountain Railroad Company in 1873. He decided to stay in Saline County and engage in carpentry. He helped build the old Baptist Chursch in Benton after the bridgework ended. According to the sisters' writeup, Sarah and William met at the Presbyterian Church. They married on Sept. 27, 1874. William was a good carpenter. He made benches, cabinets, etc. He was also much in demand to make fine caskets for the dead. William died at the age of 54, caused by a perforated appendix on August 12, 1895. FLoyd, my father, was 5 at the time. Sarah tried farming with her sons. They had made a homestead claim on land extending from Richards Street to Jackman Trail and south to the railroad tracks. I really don't know much more than this. I've seen his middle name written as Madison, Marion, and just the initial E. His death really made life hard for his family. I guess they were all so young that they didn't remember too many of the details they may have heard of William's early life. Dana

The Petty family came to Arkansas from Marshall County, Tennessee but I don't know when.

Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/1V.2ADE/343.1.1.1.1.2.1 Message Board Post: Robin, I have a written family history typed up by Floyd Richards' daughters, Mary Ann (Lilly)and Sarah (Langley). They have both passed away. This is what they said about the Pools: Sarah's mother was Josephine "Josie" Poole. Sarah's father, James Henry Poole, was born in Kentucky, moved to Tennessee and then to Arkansas. The family originated in Holland. Sarah Jane (Nov. 9, 1858-July 3, 1921) was born in Tennessee. Her mother died when they were very young. Sarah was the oldest. Her father did not remarry, but cared for his children. He died of "congestion", a common name for a number of illnesses at that time. As far as I know, they are the only family members of their generation who tried to assemble a family history. How much of it is accurate, I have no idea. Please send me the link. dsa74@hotmail.com Thanks.
