    2. RUTLEDGE THORNTON was born 1834 in N.Y. and came to Illinois with his parents at 1 yr of age. In 1880, he is listed on the census as a hotelkeeper in Benton, living with his wife Mary (SCOTT). Their daughter, Alma, was born in 1881. Rutledge died 23 March, 1883 and is buried in Old Rosemont Cemetery, next to his wife and her 2nd husband, Frank HARTRY. I've been unable to find any info on his death - too early for death certs in Arkansas, the local paper hadn't started up yet, and I read that this cemetery's records were stolen some years back. I received obits on his wife, her 2nd husband, and his daughter Alma HOLLEMAN from the Saline County Library, but they didn't have newspapers from the 1883 death of Rutledge. Does anyone have any suggestions where I might try for an obit or any info on his death? I'd appreciate any suggestions - I don't know where to look next. Thank you, May in Ca.

Burke 1901-1963, named Mary Francis Burke, born about 1927 & Virginia R. Burke, born about 1929. Lewis & family lived at Bauxite, near Benton, Arkansas - he is buried south of Little Rock. Hoping to find these descendants of Lewis' Father, Hosea Edward Burke 1880-1934 and his parents Oliver Henry Burke & Louisa Jane Moore, both of Indiana and who moved to Arkansas in the late 1800s. Louisa Jane is sister of my Great-Grandmother, so am hoping to share history on this Moore family of Sullivan County, Indiana. Appreciate any contacts about this family. Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.arkansas.counties.saline/787.1.1.1.2.2.1/mb.ashx Message Board Post: Hello, When you get a chance, I have a lot of info on Hoyt and his ancestors. Actually, I took my parents to Cedartown, Georgia in October where Hoyt's mother's family lived. They were a pretty interesting group. Hoyt's mother was Mollie Payne Beard HOlbrook Tull. Her mother was Angelina Prior Potts Payne. She was the youngest child of Asa Prior. Asa and Sally Withcer Prior had a large family and five of their children were born deaf (my grandmother Anah Lee had also mentioned this) and Angelina was one of them. Asa Prior was apparently a leading supporter of the Georgia School for the Deaf which is still in existence today. Angelina married Samuel Potts (deaf), and after he died married Thomas Jackson Payne (also deaf) who was Mollie Payne's father. Whew! While in Cedartown we made copies of some information they had on the Prior family. Do you ever see Aunt Dixie? If so, please tell her Jerry's daughter said "hey". Keep up the studies! P.S. What type of Master's degree are you working toward? Lyndee
