    1. SHELTON FAMILY
    2. Christine Harris
    3. Any one out there interested in the Shelton family of Saline County, AR My relative Henry Shelton was born about 1810/1816 in TN and died after 1880. He was living in Saline County in the 1880 census his 3rd wife Lucinda and some of his many children. The youngest being Henry who was born in Saline County in 1878. I have never found any descendents of this many on any of the lines except my own. Henry's son Robert G. Shelton was born 5 Jul 1866 in Jefferson County, AR and died 27 Nov 1920 in Saline County. He was married to Liller May Hedden and had a total of 9 Children. Some Henry's other children were John H. Shelton, Nancy, Mary, William, Frances, and Joel Shelton, David B. Shelton who is my direct line was living in Falls County, TX in 1880 and died shortly after. Henry's daughter Jane married Richard Moffitt. Henry's son George A. Shelton born 4 Jul 1835 in Carroll County, MS died 18 Jan 1921 in Saline County. I tried to obtain death certificates of both Robert and George A. Shelton from the state and neither was on file. It is like this family appeared from nowhere and disappeared just as quickly. Any help is appreciated. Sincerely, Christine Harris

    3. I have finished with the 1850 Saline County 1850 Census and have uploaded it tonight. If errors are found please let me know. I tried to copy it as it was written. The census taker spelled Elizabeth as Elisabeth in all instances. His J, L, and S. looked similar, also T and F. Small letters r, e, u, i caused some problems. I could use some more Bible Records. 3. Benjamin Franklin Wright and Elizabeth Lee were married in Saline County in 1847. Their children were Isabella, Rosa Lee, Mary E., Benjamin Franklin, Susanna, and possibly another son. Benjamin Franklin Wright Sr. may have died between 1866-1870, because he is not on the census with Elizabeth and children in 1870. By 1880 Elizabeth is missing from the census and two of her children are living with other families. Does this mean Elizabeth died and they were orphans? Marrie or Mary E. Wright married Elbert T. 3. Hello all! Absolem Martin Tanner (1833-1909) and his wife Cordelia (1835-1910) first appear in the 1860 census for Hot Spring Cy, Saline twp. In the 1880 and 1900 censuses they are in Saline Cy, Fairplay twp. Two daughters, Martha Demarius and Radie Ann, married Wilbanks boys in Saline Cy. I am trying to locate Absolem before 1860. He was born in either GA or AL. So far, I have looked at all the Tanners in GA in 1850 with no success. Does anyone have any early information on these Tanners? Thanks, Fred Groth San Antonio, TX

    1. Rootsweb Information
    2. Leon Roland Moore
    3. Have you ever wondered how much genealogy infromation is supplied by Rootweb. The following is the report for December and January I guess this is a new first -- we're posting the January statistics after, in principle, we could have computed the February statistics. Oh well. It's been *extremely* busy around here, dealing with the explosive growth and the many problems caused by the El Nino storms. The executive summary is that we had about 33% growth during just the month of January: o 27,751,946 Web files (20,835,802 in Dec) from 2,400 Websites (2,240 in Dec). - 8,308,561 were HTML pages (not images or cgi-bin) (5,903,137 in Dec). - 3,574,701 were cgi-bin database searches and such. (2,911,509 in Dec). - 15,784,790 were GIFs (14,529,204) or JPEGs (1,255,586) (11,849,905 in Dec were GIFs (10,902,627) or JPEGs (947,279). o 618,762 FTP file downloads from the USGenWeb Archives and the ROOTS-L Library (472,838 in Dec). o Thanks to a neat hack by Tim Pierce, we know we shipped about 88,649,000 pieces of mail to the 2,600+ (2,300 in Dec) mailing lists we host. o 60,000 alt.g and s.g.* Usenet News articles to hosts on three continents (same as Dec). o Approximately 451,786,000,000 bytes in total (321,408,000,000 in Dec). Besides adding hundreds of new Websites and mailing lists in January, we also added new servers and a third and fourth T1 connection to the Internet. (A T1 is about 50 times faster than a standard modem.) These additions have significantly increased our costs of operation, but they were essential if we were to continue to properly support the Internet genealogical community. As always, RootsWeb remains supported by user contributions. Folks who would like to become a RootsWeb Member or Sponsor (the cost is very modest) are invited to visit: http://www.rootsweb.com/rootsweb/how-to-subscribe.html *** You can become a Member easily using your credit card and our new secure server. *** Now is a particularly good time for folks to join, because we have had a huge increase in utilization since Christmas. Our bandwidth rate has jumped from 321 to 451 gigabytes/month, and we're having to do numerous upgrades to our servers to support the load. Your membership can help our capacity keep up with the demands of the Internet genealogical community. Thanks to everyone who participates in RootsWeb -- clearly folks are continuing to exchanging a great deal of information! -B -- Dr. Brian Leverich Co-moderator, soc.genealogy.methods/GENMTD-L RootsWeb Genealogical Data Cooperative http://www.rootsweb.com/ P.O.
