He was born in North Carolina in about 1801. By the 1820s he was in Montgomery, Alabama with his brother Israel and his uncle, Parker Gray. Gainer married Fereby Edwards in 1832 in Montgomery, Alabama. By 1850 he is in Prairie Twp., Prairie County, Arkansas with wife Elizabeth (who may be Fereby or a second wife). Gainer died in Pulaski Co., Arkansas in Sep 1870. Gainer and Elizabeth's known children were Margaret E. Gray (born 1844- Mississippi), William M. Gray (born 1847- Mississippi), John S. Gray (born 1849- Mississippi), and Henry G. Gray (born 1850-Arkansas). Would love to hear from anyone who may have more info on this family. Thanks, Linda Morris
