    3. Yes, MissLata, you are correct that there was this one floor that was strictly off limits to most about anybody and my husband's grandmother explained it to me about the way you explained it in your email. It was not a nice place to be or even now think about. I just pray now that they are more humane and the conditions are a lot better than there were in the 50's and 60's. I have a friend now that has a daughter on that floor and I don't want to ask him. I think what people have submitted plus what I have sent you off list gives you a good start in trying to get the information you need. I remember going there as a child. The way the man explained is a lot the way I remember back in the late 50's and early 60's when my mother's aunt was there. I can promise you it was not a nice place and most of the early patients were just warehoused as we would say. My mother's aunt hated it so much. If she had some little problems once again after she had been released, she knew she would have to go to the real crazy floor where they screamed and carried on just like animals. So she soon realized when she was going off and when to tell and ask for help rather than go back to that place. I visited that floor just one time and that was just at the entrance and I still remember the screaming, etc. It smelled and it was bad.
