I am looking for an Alick (Aleck, Eleck?) Burks who (I think) lived around Little Rock sometime around the turn of the century . He was born in "Kentucky" around 1879. All I know for sure is that both his parents were born in Kentucky and he was living in Indianapolis, Ind. in the 1930 census with his 3 children (Alex "Junior", Mable and Lucille). They ended up living in Mercer, Tenn by 1934 where he died suddenly leaving his children orphaned. I found a promising lead in the 1910 census from Stuttgart City, Arkansas that listed an "Elex Burks" as a boader (right age and other info), but am not sure it there's a connection or not. His son (Alex "Junior" Burks who was about 9 when his father died) always knew "Little Rock" as someplace that was significant in his father's background, but they didn't know any other extended family members. Their mother had "run off " in the late 1920's and they never knew her. I know there were lots ! of Burks in Arkansas and I'm hoping his name will ring a bell with someone as a GGuncle/cousin/etc. Any lead would be GREATLY appreciated. Thanks!
