    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/0V.2ADE/2120.1 Message Board Post: I have record of J. F. Navens as witness to marriage of my grandparents, Henry Arthur Mellinger and Ora Dye in Dunklin County, Mo, May 3, 1903. Henry Arthur Mellinger was born in Michigan, probably in the Niles area outside of Chicago in the 1880s. I am further intrigued by the Adams name, since Ora Dye's sister, Myrtle married Jesse Adams and I wonder if this is a coincidence or a case of families traveling together. Do you have evidence of your Navens having come to Arkansas by way of Kansas. My grandfather and his family nearly starved to death in Kansas before moving to Arkansas sometime before the1900 census, at which time Henry Arthur Mellinger lived with his brother Evan in northern Arkansas. The Dyes lived in the Strawberry, AR. area in the 1880s. The courthouse at Powhatan has tax records for the Dyes from the 1880s, but I did not research the name Navens in the record...Was your Navens a wood worker, shingle mill worker or cabinet maker? At the time of the m! arriage of Art and Ora they clamed to be residents of Campbell, Mo. I hope this information may be of use to you

S. Senator, Solon Borland, M. D., from Arkansas 1848-1853. Mrs. Fannie B. Moores' obituaries were on front page, Sunday, Aug 24, 1879 of The Daily Memphis Avalanche, and p. 4, Aug 28, 1879 of Daily Arkansas Gazette.       Several of her poems were reportedly distributed within the literary circles of London by Father Abram Ryan following the Confederate States Civil War.       Her work was heralded by Generals Harrell & Pike of the CSA.       At least one, --- "The Dead Confederacy" was published 21 Dec 1871 in London's Cosmopolitan, possibly signed as Violet Lea. This work was written at Princeton, Arkansas in 1865, after the war ceased.       Its said her work appeared in newspapers and other like publcations of her time, never assembled in booklet form which I'm attempting to do now some 126 years after her demise. We have found: The Dead Confederacy, 12/21/1871, London's Cosmopolitan, & 1/21/1872 Ark Gazette At My Fathers Feet, 1933, "The Poets and Poetry of Ark" David O Dodd, 1933, "The Poets and Poetry of Ark" & PCHS's "Review", Fall 1981 Judge Not By The Outward Look, 11/29/1862, Ark Gazette, To My Son's Scrap-Book, 3/23/1873, Ark Gazette Other known but missing work: The Baby of Lillie Dilsey at The North Born Dead and a 1878 tribute to Colonel Harvey Washington Walter's death by yellow fever.

    2. kncmurphy1
    3. I am really hoping someone might know what this husband's full name was. All I know at this time is that he was W. G. Brown who in 1933 lived in Little Rock, AR. I believe the wife of W. G. Brown was a woman maiden named Margaret Moore b. ca 1866 in TN. (probably White County). Margaret along with her mother Susan (Keithley/Keathely) Moore and Margaret's brothers John H., George A., & James W. P. moved from White County, TN. to Muddy Bayou Twp., Faulkner Co., AR. previous to the 1880 census. The 1900 census lists Susan in the home of son John H. and son George A. was in his own home - all living in Marble City, Newton Co., AR. James was in Ewing Twp., Boone Co., AR. BUT I haven't located dau. Margaret in any of the census' after 1880. An Oct. 7, 1933 obituary for Margaret's brother James W. P. Moore states his sister Mrs. W. G. Brown was living in Little Rock. Any help or connection from a subscriber would be most appreciated. Thank you, Carolyn Murphy

According to the State death index she is listed as Katie Little, DOD 2/28/1928. No obit in the newspapers. My question is can we get State Hospital records as to why she was in the hospital? There has to be some legal document putting her there. Is there information on burials, where? Will the death cert, if there is one, give me the same info?
