    3. No your memory is still pretty good. Yes the Insane Asylum was and still is on Markham Street, right where you said it was. It is beside the University of Arkansas Medical School. I have lived in Little Rock my entire life and I am 53, but the reason I didn't answer the original request is because there isn't much to tell. If you are looking for records of patients, you can pretty much forget that. I have never known anyone to get any documentation from the Insane Asylum or the cemeteries, no matter how hard they try. I had an Aunt there and I can tell you for sure that she was NOT insane, she was an alcoholic, which I think most of the patients were. I also know though that the bad ones (patients) were not allowed to walk outside, they were always locked up. My husband's grandmother was a nurse there and she told me that most of the people there, should not have been there, but didn't go too much into details. I remember going there as a child. The way the man explained is a lot the way I remember back in the late 50's and early 60's when my mother's aunt was there. I can promise you it was not a nice place and most of the early patients were just warehoused as we would say. My mother's aunt hated it so much. If she had some little problems once again after she had been released, she knew she would have to go to the real crazy floor where they screamed and carried on just like animals. So she soon realized when she was going off and when to tell and ask for help rather than go back to that place. I visited that floor just one time and that was just at the entrance and I still remember the screaming, etc. It smelled and it was bad. Good luck!
