If you will mail a self addressed stamped envelope to Sherryl Miller at PO Box 873, Lonoke, Arkansas, telling her what you need, she will send you an exact date of death, if it is listed. There is a Arkansas Death Index which runs from 1914-1948, and while not perfect, it does have most of the info correct for that time period. If you live in Arkansas, you can find that in your local library in the genealogy room. If you need more, she can research it for you but she usually receives a donation to the museum building fund if she has to go to the history commission to search. That is her way of helping everyone. Linda

    3. Jamie, No, sorry it does not give the date of birth or his age. Batesville is in Independence County which is I would say considered in the northeastern part of the state. Where Sebastian County is as far west as the state goes. It is on the Arkansas Oklahoma state line, so the two counties are very far apart. Sorry, which I could have helped. 2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Surnames: McLAIN, McCLAIN, McLANE, McLEAN, etc. HARDIN / HARDEN Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/0V.2ADE/2316.1.1 Message Board Post: HI Linda, I believe you and I may have chatted in the past early on in my research on my McLAIN line . . . and my great grandmother Clara COOPER, b 1878 Monroe County to Dillard L. COOPER and Parthenia ANDREWS /ANDERS HOUSE HOLLEMAN / HOLMAN COOPER . Their daughter Clara married Wm. David McLAIN, b 1859 Lawrence Co, AR.. Wm. David McLAIN was the son of Sarah Catherine AGEE (found this line in EAst TN) , b circa 1842 TN (maybe GA) and John Henry McLAIN b circa 1835-38 TN. (Note: Sarah was daughter of Wm. AGEE b 1818 TN and Lenah / Leannah HARVEY b 1814 TN). John Henry McLAIN was the son of Charles McLAIN b circa 1809 Illinois or TN , died 1869 Lawrence Co, AR. and wife Perlina UNKNOWN b about 1812 TN, died 1860 AR. The evidence is overwhelming that Charles is the son of Charles (or a brother) from a line of McLAINs / McCLAINs in Weakley County, TN---than came from a line in North Carolina, passed through KY and IL and settled in West TN---some moved on to AR and MO early to mid 1800s. And the NC line appears to have come from a line in Maryland. Re my query about James D. McLAIN and wife Amanda and daughter Serilda----James was a son of James D. McLAIN, who was a son of Squire McLAIN and Melinda Caroline HARDIN. Squire was born November 1842 TN to Perlina Unknown and Charles McLAIN who came to Arkansas before the 1850 census. I;m not sure that right now I need any research help----but I appreciate having your recommendation for one in the Lonoke area. I may find that useful later on as I do think my line was in Lonoke at some point, perhaps more than I know at present. My hope is that ---by posting online---I'll find some living descendants on Squire's line--from his grandson James D. who married Amanda and had the daughter Serilda. Having found them on the 1930 census puts that family in a timeframe where living descendants might have some memory of grandparents and great grandparents---and hopefully have some old family records. If you think a researcher in Lonoke might be helpful in that regard, then perhaps I do need one now . . . . Maybe after this busy Christmas and Holiday season is over, someone will discover my posting. I'm crossing my fingers! The message boards here and in Germany have been wonderful for connecting me up with researchers on my family lines! Season's Greetings! Audrey in Tennessee
