Dear list, Apparently things must be better because Becky Roberts just sent me photos of my gg grandfather's CW stone. To those who replied to my plea, I thank you, but it's no longer necessary. Dear Listers, Do we have anyone that lives near Oak Bowery Cemetery in Faulkner Co., AR? Recently, the Sons of the Confederate Veterans placed my gg grandfather's Civil War stone. Becky Roberts was going to take a photo for me. (I live in TX). Given her prior e-mails to the list about a family tragedy, I'm sure she is unable to do so at this time. If anyone can take a digital photo for me it would be greatly appreciated. You can e-mail me off list for the location of the stone. List Members, I am so moved and touched by all of the emails I have received through the list and to my personal email due to my situation. Each and everyone of them have brought tears to my eyes and I am trying to answer each one, but I am being flooded with your heart-felt emails, that I am overwhelmed and SO thankful to have associated with such special people. So, this email is to each and every one of you who is praying, thinking and caring for my family. THANK YOU !! You'all have blessed me more than I have ever helped any of you. I want to wish everyone and very Merry Christmas and hopefully I will be back after that with a new and bright new year. Becky, I hope all goes well. In the meantime, I can do census look-ups, AR Death Index look-ups and Pulaski co marriages (1820-1901) Becky Millet millet@consolidated.net "The best measure of the future is the record of the past." -Benjamin Franklin
List Members, Due to some very personal issues that happened yesterday, I am sorry to inform all these lists that I am not going to be able to fulfill any lookup request. I am very sorry about this, because I love helping fellow genealogist, but I have no choice at this time. It has nothing to do with any particular list, it is a family tragedy, but I am unable to go into at this time. I do however, ask for prayer for my family at this time. Linda, I was born in AR. My grandmother died long after record keeping so I know where her grave is and when she got there. Her dad though, died in the Stuttgart area in 1904. No records were kept then according to several volunteers I have found over the years. I tried a local funeral home having an idea that they might have records the town or state did not. Two snail letters with SASE went unacknowledged, but that doesn't mean it wouldn't work for you so that is one suggestion. The folks at the Stuttgart and the Pine Bluff (next county) library were contacted by phone and helped all they could. They found news articles about the great grandmother's death in 1908, but I still don't know where her grave is sited. They found several marriage licenses and a couple of grave sites for other relatives, all in the pre 1915 era. So I would surely suggest a contact with the local library. On the other hand, an apparently very experienced genealogist who often posts to these mailing lists has often explained that not everyone bothered to note stuff like who died and where they were planted until they had to ... She has often mentioned some books by a person named Desmond (? pardon my senior moment here) so you might hunt those down or consult someone who owns them. I am trying to find a volunteer/paid researcher for the Little Rock or Fayetteville archives archives to look for a funeral item for grgranpa who died in Oct ... the 4th or the 9th ... of 1904. I expect to get lucky one day soon. I bet there are folks on this list who can come up with more and even better ideas, so don't give up just yet. ron in CA -----Original Message----- From: Mslinnie2004@aol.com Sent: Nov 26, 2004 8:50 AM To: ARPULASK-L@rootsweb.com Subject: [ARPULASK] Suggestion or help please Have you any suggestion how I could go about getting some kind of concrete info on my great grandfather and grandmother?
