    3. Hi Euna, That would be great!  Thank you! My great-grandparents were Mervin Lafayette Boen/Bowen (b. ~1901) and Leota Faye Lemley Bowen (b. Oct. 22, 1904). They were both born and raised in Pope County.  Mervin's father was Thomas Jefferson Boen.  Thomas Jefferson Boen was the only child of John Turner Boen and Elizabeth A. Lile(s).  John Turner Boen was also married to Emily Hicks. I have not been able to trace my Boen ancestors farther back than John Turner Boen and I would like to learn more. Here is the current information that I have: John Turner Boen was born March 7, 1815 in TN and died 1897 in White Co., AR.  He married Emily Hicks.  He later married Elizabeth A. Lile(s) October 13, 1859 in Jackson Co., AR; Breckenridge Township.  She was born in AL.  Family stories say that Elizabeth Lile(s) was a full blood Cherokee Indian, and I'm wondering if John Turner Boen was also.  I would also like to find out who John's and Elizabeth's family's were. Please let me know where I can send my check for a single membership and who to make the check to. Thank you so much for your help! The River Valley Genealogy Society involves the counties of Conway, Faulkner, Perry, Pope, Van Buren and Yell.  We plan to hold the Expo in a different county each year.  Next year's Expo will be held about the same time as this year.  Our Society prints a monthly newsletter.  If you will write up a query telling the information you are seeking I will make sure it gets in our next newsletter.  You never know when one of our members might be researching the same names.  Also, some members of our group volunteer to do lookups for people.  We will do our best to help you.  We look forward to hearing from you.  I will add your email address to our contact list for next year's Expo.  We would also like to invite you to join our Society. Membership is $15 per year per person or $20 for a family membership (this includes one newsletter per month). Thanks. Will this be an annual event? I would love to attend the next one. My name is Lori (Bowen) Gwyn and I have a lot of family from the Appleton area in Pope County, AR. For the last 10 years, I have been unable to trace my family further than John Turner Boen. He was born in 1815 in TN and died in 1897. I am also related to the Watkins, Lemley, and Barham families. If you know of anyone in your area doing research on these families, I would love to hear from them. I am especially interested in John Turner Boen. Thank you for your help!
