    2. Searching for a newspaper obit, or historical document about the death of James Logan "Jim" Beavers, b. 1849 in McMinn Co., TN and married Elizabeth Jane Shook there, had children Julia, Sallie, Martha "Mattie" and son John Beavers. On the way to Oklahoma Territory, NEAR RUSSELLVILLE, POPE COUNTY, he was repairing the wagon wheel in which they traveled, and the wagon fell on him and crushed him,, causing his death. Their son John was born in 1878, so it was after this date. Can anyone help me with a record of his death in the area? Genealogists and historians are the BEST! Nell Truitt in Oklahoma - relative

    3. Ma'am : I have no knowledge on this but be sure to check 1877 for the death, too. My great-grandfather died in December 1870 but his daughter--my grandmother--was not born until a few months into 1871. That was in Pope County near Dover (which is right outside of Russellville). I've never been able to find anything on him except census records and his gravestone and he was a physician.
