    3. Jean, Thank you for the information. There may be one clue for me. Ekeshu , stated he was from SC. That is the birthplace of Winniefred Williams. She may have a connection to Ekeshu. I have census records from Walker County and another adjoining county that mention all these people. It is a shame to have so much information, but still be unable to connect people. Thanks again for your effort. 2. Hi Virginia, I checked the Walker Co book and there are about 8 different stories on Williams but most don't go back far enough to help you with the Rev War. James J does say they are from Wales, annother Ekeshu 1800-1889 does say he was from SC where he father stayed and he notes older William was in the Rev War, not much more about it tho. There is a Lewis H who m Elizabeth and he has children bornnamed Lewis H, Martha Cooper, Rachel Dick and Elizabeth Cooper. He also says he came from SC by way of Hall Co, GA. The names you mentioned are not used much in these write ups, only one John is mentioned and he is John Lambert b 1849 to Tinsley V and Mary A Williams, nothing about his ancestors. 3. Jean, I have a lot of information on Lewis / Louis Williams who lived in Walker Co. His wife, Winnifred was also a Williams. An interesting fact about this couple is that both their fathers were named John Williams. Winnifred Williams' father was from Wales and Louis Williams father was from England. Both fathers were Revolutionary soldiers and were at the surrender of Lord Cornwallis to George Washington at Yorktown. I have tried to find more about the two John Williams but so far no luck. I would like to Know more about their war service and families. Louis was born November 29, 1785 in Virginia, birthdate from Louis' son's bible. Louis had a brother named Amos. Louis died in Walker Co in 1863. I have a copy of his will. His son, my ancestor, is John W. Williams, John's brother, Lewis H. Williams, born June 1, 1821 ( I believe) was the son who went to Scott Co., Arkansas. He gave an interview to a news paper " The Advance Reporter" in Waldron in Scott Co in 1907, talking about himself and his family. He is the one who told the story of the two John Williams & their war history. In 1907 he had two daughters living in Texas. I don't find any Huggins in Louis' family, He had a daughter, Martha, who married a Cooper, one named Rachel who married an A. :H. Dick, another daughter, named Elizabeth, who also married a T. A. Cooper, his sons, married into the Humphries, Fanin, Camp, Kirkland and others , names unknown to me. If you have a war record of a Williams from Wales, I would like to see it, maybe I can connect it to my John Williams. Thanks, Virginia ----- Original Message ----- From: <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Tuesday, September 09, 2008 2:59 PM Subject: Re: [ARPOPE] Williams Family > Hi > I monitor the Pope Co AR web site and I saw your query on Williams from > Walker Co, GA. 2. Hi I monitor the Pope Co AR web site and I saw your query on Williams from Walker Co, GA. I don't have a Williams in my family but I do have quite a lot of family from Walker Co, GA. My grandmother was Mattie Cumi Gasaway born in ca 1882 in Dardnelle, her parents had just migrated from Walker and Catoose Co, Ga probably. Mattie married Robert Mathew Huggins and they lived most of their married life on Pettit Jean Mountain, in Conway Co before moving in 1922 to Seminole Co, OK where my parents were married. They are Walter Clifford Huggins and Edithe Mae Bowerman who was married by a Preacher Williams in Seminole Co and I wonder if the Williams may have gone to Ok too. Besides Gasaway I have Bird, Brckey and Dunn who also came to AR and OK, some in Conway co stayed John Bird, some in Scott Co and some went to McCallaster, OK in Indian Territory. I have the Walker Co, GA Heritage book and it has quite a lot on the Williams line, back to migration from Wales, Rev War ties etc. Do you have all this information?? 3. Clydene I know of one person in my Williams family who lived in Scott Co. Arkansas. He was Lewis Hampton Williams, born June 1, 1821 in Georgia, His brother, John W. Williams, born June 25, 1809 in Georgia. They were the sons of Lewis Williams and Winifred ( Winney) Frances Williams of Walker County, Georgia. John W. Williams moved to Pope County shortly after the Civil War. Lewis Hampton Williams lived in Scott County, Ar. I'm not sure when he moved there, I know he was the executor of his father's estate and settled the estate in 1900 when his step mother died. Lewis Hampton was married twice, I believe. Mary Camp and he were married about 1843 in Walker Co, Georgia . They had 8 children. Mary died in 1863 and he married Piety A. Kirkland about 1865. They had 5 children. Lewis died about 1907 and was buried in the Pleasant Grove # 3 Cemetery in Scott Co. Arkansas. I don't know if Lewis was in Louisana. I couldn't find my ancestor John W. Williams on the 1870 census. I wonder if he was in Louisana with Lewis? Do you have the names of the Williams who lived in Louisana? I hope this helps. 3. Hi CeCe, My ALLENs came from London, England > VA > TN > TX > CA. Berry LANGFORD wrote his will in Pope County, AR in 1833. Berry was the brother of Champ LANGFORD, my GGG-grandfather on my mother's side. I've been unable to identify Champ's parents or any siblings other than Berry. And I can't find any information about Berry after 1833. (I can't find a copy of his will, when he died, where he's buried, what happen to his wife. His son, Edley H., married in Pope County in 1858. But I don't know what happened to any of Berry's other 8 children.) 3. Hi Barbara, Thanks for the LANGFORD marriages in Pope County, AR. It looks like the only child of Berry and Elizabeth LANGFORD to marry in Pope County was Edley H. LANGFORD. Unfortunately that didn't lead very far. Edley H. LANGFORD married Abbie M. WASHBURN in Pope County, AR in 1858. They had 3 daughters. Edley died in 1862. (I don't know where he's buried.) His widow, Abbie, and children are in Pope County, AR in the 1870 U.S. census. They're in Yell County, AR in the 1880 U.S. census. Abbie died in 1881 (I don't know where she's buried) and I lost track of their children. I have no idea what happened to Berry and Elizabeth's other children: Milinda, Polly, Margaret R., Lucinda, Champ, Jeptha, John W. or the unborn child mentioned in his Berry's will written in Pope County, AR on 6 Jul 1833. Again, thank you for the marriage lookup. Bill Allen

    3. Hi Jean, My ALLENs came from Virginia to Warren County (now Dekalb County), Tennessee. Then from TN to Texas. Then from TX to California. THE ALLEN FAMILY by Richard Fenton Wicker Jr. says they got to Virginia when William ALLEN was born in London, England in 1630 and died in York County, VA in 1677. But I haven't confirmed that's my family. All I can prove is my ALLENs movements from VA > TN > TX > CA. The LANGFORDs in Haywood County, NC > St. Clair and Jefferson Counties, AL > Pope and Craighead Counties, AR are my mother's side of the family.
