Welcome, Everybody to our Poinsett County mailing list. How's everybody doing in their genealogy research? Roadblocks, Successes you would like to share? My ongoing roadblock has been my great-grandfather, William Elsworth Lyon. About 6 months ago, I sent a letter with a SASE to the Tri City Tribune in Marked Tree. I was hoping somebody could look in the obituaries to see if my great-grandfather was listed. I haven't heard a word. He died after my grandmother, Elsie Mae Lyon, was born. She was born August 1911 in Tyronza. Since she was a baby when he died, this is why I feel he is buried in Poinsett County. I wrote to the Poinsett Historical Society. No Lyon listed in their history book, I wrote to 'City Hall' in Tyronza. No luck. I'd have to check my notes, but I'm sure I wrote to a cemetery in Tyronza. It would be easier if he had passed away after 1914 when Arkansas started keeping death records. The story is, my great-grandfather traveled on business. When he was on a trip, he came down with an appendicitis, he was operated on, but it was too late. Then my great-grandmother, Mattie 'Belle' Peters, had to go to the train station to pick-up his body. Anybody have suggestions?
