    1. [ARPOINSE-L] Guardianship Records
    2. J Charley Hooper died somewhere between 1882 to 1890. Jereline Shaver Hooper kept a baby son, Ed. Thomas was adopted by Odom and William ( my grandfather ) was given away and lived with Thrower or Throur Family. I understand in Arkansas children were put under State guardianship. Are those files in the Harrisburg Court House? If they are, Is there someone I could pay to look these files up? PeggyAhern@aol.com California

    3. I'm hoping there is somebody that lives near the Craighead County & Jonesboro Public Library that could look in newspapers for an obituary of my great-grandfather, William Elsworth Lyon. My grandmother, Elsie Mae Lyon, was born Aug. 19, 1911 in Tyronza. When she was a baby, her father passed away from an appendicitis. He was on a business trip and my great-grandmother, Mattie Belle Peters, had to go to a train station to pick-up his body. I tried writing to different cemeteries, called City Hall and another place. No luck. Since Craighead County library serves as the Genealogy Library for Poinsett County, I'm hoping they would have a newspaper with an obituary. And I'm hoping the newspapers were small back then, so it wouldn't be too much research for someone to look in the newspapers from late 1911 to late 1912. I have found lots of information my great-grandfather's family, way back to Indiana, but I can't find my great-grandfather. If someone on the Mailing List can help me with this, please e-mail me directly. Thanks, Phyllis -- E-Mail: phaynen@gte.net Poinsett Co., Arkansas USGenWeb http://www.rootsweb.com/~arpoinse/ Phyllis' Family Genealogy http://home1.gte.net/phaynen/tree.htm

Example: Search the Social Security Death Index online for FREE! http://ssdi.genealogy.rootsweb.com/ The most powerful SSDI search engine on the Internet! These are generated by RootsWeb and as the Listowner, I can add 10 more. I've added taglines for various Arkansas USGenWeb Projects and the USGenWeb Project. I hope this will be helpful reminders of what is available to us in our research. P.S. Since May 9th, 1999 when I became County Coordinator, we've had 1,497 visitors! Thanks for stopping by and I hope this GenWeb Project has been helpful in your search.
