    3. --WebTV-Mail-2370-344 Content-Type: Text/Plain; Charset=US-ASCII Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7Bit Dear Linda, Thank you so much! I believe the Barton Family lived in Whitehall. But I understand that they also farmed in Colt, St Francis Co. and lived in Cherry Valley, Cross Co. so I can not give you an exact date that they lived in Poinsett Co. I do not know where in Poinsett Co. the Hale or Waldron family lived. I was under the impression that the Hale family (1910) lived in St Francis Co. until my grandmother said the other day that she thought they were in Poinsett Co. There should also be a Raburn family in the Whitehall area 1920. I am not sure this helps you much - but I would appreciate anything you find. 1. [ARPoinsett-L] Poinsett County, AR GenWeb Updates
    2. Phyllis Haynen
    3. Hi Everybody, Many updates to the Poinsett County, Arkansas GenWeb site. http://www.rootsweb.com/~arpoinse/ More surnames, births and marriages have been added. Dallas Ellis has donated the cemetery transcription for Tyer Cemetery. Check out the About Poinsett County link. There is a link to the Poinsett County, Arkansas website. Created by our special friend, Tina Price. Check out the weather and more! We have a new link: Poinsett County Photos. Check it out! This was donated by Mary LeBlanc. It's a 1902 photo in front of the Marked Tree Hotel. In the picture is her grandmother and great-grandparents. Do you have a photograph with ancestors in Poinsett County? Send it to me and I'll add it to the page. Volunteer Lookups: We need volunteer lookups! If you have a book, access to newspapers, etc. think about volunteering. It's a good thing! 1. [ARPoinsett-L] Orphaned children
    2. I received my Poinset Cty History Book. It says children were "auctioned off" when orphaned. My grandfather, William M. Hooper's father Charley died when he was 6 or 7. He lived with several families until he was taken by the Throwers. I have heard women had no rights to children or any property and these records are in the Probate Court minutes books but many counties had Guardianship books. QUESTIONS: Does anyone know if "auctioned off" is the same thing? What did Poinsett County do. Would there be records and where would they be? Peggy Hooper Ahern

    1. [ARPoinsett-L] Obits, Bios and Queries
    2. Phyllis Haynen
    3. I wanted to remind everyone about the GenConnect Boards at Poinsett County, Arkansas GenWeb http://www.rootsweb.com/~arpoinse/ If you have an Obituary or Biography about an Ancestor, post it here. Your surnames are indexed with Surname Helper and you are providing more information that will help other 'cousins' find you. The same with the Query Board. Also, with the Query Board somebody may respond with the information you need to continue your research. I read all the queries, bios and obits (and our mailing list). This gives me ideas on what to add to the Poinsett County, Arkansas GenWeb site to help all of us in our research. Happy Hunting!
