He spent 3 years as a Japanese prisoner of war, followed by several months in a US Naval Hospital. He died 14 Feb 1989, and is buried in Hope Cemetery of Perry County. It's sad to find so very little written about him. I would appreciate some local help to locate a marriage record or an obit. The Petit Jean Country Headlight, 30 Sep 2009 edition, page 4, has this excerpt ..."word from the War Department that their son, Walter St. John, was liberated after three years as a prisoner of the Japs."
