Council Bluff got its name as legend has it because the Indians in the area of Foursh Lafave River held their Council meetings on the Bluff on 216 Hy.This has been the crossing of Foursh Lafave River going to Houston for many many years. I am interested in the families that lived here and their history. The abstract starts out with the land being given to Ark. by the US Government. In 1850, Then State of Ar to Jno Bowie on march 17,1860. The next chain of title listed is J.B. Smith to W.H. Rankin and John Bland on March 2, 1899. The court house at Perryville burned 3 times destroying land records so the chain of title is broken.Lawsons have owned property adjoining and possibly this property also. My husband and I bought the 72 achor tract in June, with old dug well, old road bed and what is used for a barn that appears to be an old home. Also a home place sits further up the bluff. On the edge of the foot of the bluff behind the barn is what appears to be a child's grave and possibly an adults. The reason for this belief is that there is a rock in an oval shape placed upright at what appears to be the head stone and a flat stone at the foot. Irises are planted at each end.Any one having history and information on this property please e-mail me. My email add will change to [email protected] on Jan first 2000. Thank you in anticipation of getting lots of information. Marlene Yielding McCormick
