Hi All, I am new to the Perry County list. I live on the west coast and I am very interested in finding out any information about my family from Adona... Does anyone out there know where I might find information on my grgrgrndfather, John Howell (Adona's first resident)? I know that he named the town after my grgrgrndmother, and according to the 1850 census, he was listed as the only parent of 6: William, Catherine, Robert, James, John (jr), and Thomas. I suspect that Adona may have died in childbirth, since the baby was only 1 yo. I am trying to find out who John's parents were and what county in NC that he was from. I am also trying to find information about my grandfather, William Moore b: 1888, d: 1922. He was married to Orah Bennett, and they had 3 children: Nova, Clyo and James (my father). Grandad died under "mysterious circumstances" when my father was only 8. My parents told us (children) that grandad was "kicked" by a horse. An older cousin said that there was an inquisition about grandad's death, but the results were inconclusive. Would Perry County have record of this available?
