    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Author: janbut Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.arkansas.counties.perry/770.1.1/mb.ashx Message Board Post: Phillip Graves birthdate was 1873 not 1878 as I originally stated. Did you know that his first wife was Docie Cate and they were married December 29, 1895 in Perry County? Wonder if she was related to Annie & Manda ? Manda was listed as Cates on the 1920 census. Robert was a teenager before she died therefore he should have known whether she was his mother or aunt. I'm betting that Manda was his aunt. Author: janbut Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.arkansas.counties.perry/769.2/mb.ashx Message Board Post: Okay, I figured it out. John Q. Allen the sheriff in Perry county and the John Q. Allen buried in Ada Valley Cemetery are two entirely different people in 2 different counties. Ada Valley is in Conway County, that J.Q. Allen was much older than the sheriff of Perry County, but they were possibly related. Maybe even father and son. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. 2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Author: NancyStell1940 Surnames: Allen Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.arkansas.counties.perry/769.1.1/mb.ashx Message Board Post: Thanks for sending this, but this doesn't match with the info I have. J.Q. Allen's wife is inscribed on a tombstone in Ada Valley Cemetery as Mary J. born December 22, 1844 and died March 12, 1892. They had a daughter, Nettie F. Smith (must be her married name) because inscribed under her name it plainly says "daughter of Dr. J.Q. & Mary J. Allen born January 26, 1879 and died May 24,1908". I find it rather coincidental that there are two J.Q. Allens in Perry County (actually three John Q. b. 1900), two of them have daughters Nettie and Netsey, one born in 1908 and one dying in 1908! Author: janbut Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.arkansas.counties.perry/769.1/mb.ashx Message Board Post: I found him and his wife Mary C. on the Perry Co. Census for 1900, 1910 and 1920. They consistently stated that he was born in Arkansas, but his father may have come from Mississippi or Alabama. He and Mary C. were married in 1890 and had several children: Estelle b.1891, Inez/Nina b.1893,Arthur b. 1895, George/Mason b. 1898, John b. 1900,Lottie/Dimple b. 1904, Netsey/Dutsey b. 1908. I also found John Quitman d. 1923 and Mary Cordelia d. 1949 both are buried in Perryville (Ragsdale)Cemetery in Perryville, AR. There is another John Q. b.1900 d. 1984 is also buried in the same cemetery, he may have been a career Navy man and possibly their son. I'm no relation, just having fun! Q. Allen and his family. I was told he was also sheriff of Perry County 1914 - 1916 and again from 1916 to 1919. I think his wife Mary J. and his daughter Nettie F. Smith are buried in Ada Valley Cemetery at the foot of Petit Jean Mountain. I think that Dr. Allen came from somewhere in Mississippi and His wife, Mary J, ? from Arkansas. Their daughter Nettie F. was born in Arkansas. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
