There is an article in the Ouachita Co. Library about this cemetery. It was an interview made by Harmon Ross, former manager of Poison Spring State Forest, and an elderly black gentleman who remembered it being called Paradise Cemetery. He said there was once a "sanctified" black church at that location and he had memories of coal being mined in a tunnel which ran underneath present Hwy. 76. He also remembers many homemade wooden grave markers at that location. The Poison Spring Cemetery sign was placed there within the last year or two, possibly by the Forestry Work Center just up the road.
Thanks Jerry. On my way to the library tomorrow to see if I can find the history. Maybe even find out who S. G. Goodlett was.
