    1. Re: [AROUACHI] RE: Sayre
    2. Dear Mr. McKelvy; Thanks for the information. I would appreciate any information that someone may have about Sayre. I have quite a bit. Meta Wallace was a friend of my mother's and she was a descendant of Dr. Hawkins who built the old stagecoach house in Sayre. She gave us a lot of information before she passed away in Little Rock back around 1990 I believe. Incidentally, her sister, Sybil, has a grandson, or great grandson, who is Robert Patrick, the actor, who is currently in the X-files. I believe Robert grew up in North Carolina, but I wonder if he knows he is a descendant of one of the first settlers in Sayre. The Murphy family lived near the Turner Cemetery in Reader. My mother said there used to be a road going directly from Sayre to the Turner Cemetery. One of the Murphys moved to Pine Bluff and she gave us a copy of a photo of the old Sayre Railroad Depot with "Sayre" on the side of the building. I have moved several times in the last few years and I must have that picture somewhere in storage, but I haven't seen it for some time. Someday I may find it and I can put it together with the other photos I have from Sayre, and send it on to the Ouachita Historical Society. Someday. Right now I'm concentrating in trying to get my house in El Dorado in shape to sell. I've been trying for two years now with no success. Sayre was an interesting little town in Arkansas and it's sad to see how it has become practically a ghost town today with the buildings torn down and the railroad tracks removed. C'est la vie. Nothing lasts forever. Keith
