    1. [AROUACHI] Hi all! New to list, hope I can contribute...
    2. Nancy M. Dickinson
    3. I am new to the list, but thought I would join, as I am researching my husband's line, the Dickinson's from Dallas and Ouachita Counties. My first contribution to the illustrious Ouachita County is my husband's Great Grandfather's small amount of records from the Civil War... Alfred Harrison Dickinson, my husband's G Grandfather, joined Capt. Radford s Co., Grinsted's Regiment, Arkansas Infantry (later to become Co. C, 33rd AR Infantry) on 27 June 1862, in Camden, AR. On the 3rd of Jul 1862, he marched 7 miles to the camp and was mustered in. He was 25 years old and his brother, Lafayette M. Dickinson, also joined this same unit. He had another brother, Joel Shadrack Dickinson, that joined a Cavalry Unit. But I digress... Alfred was paid roughly 5 times during his 3 years in service, all by Capt. Gibbs (later Major) and Major Elliston. Alfred was enlisted in the Confederate Army by Col. H W McMillan (or W H McMillan) who was later a Lt. Col. Alfred enlisted in the Confederate Army for the term of "3 years or War"... Any of these names sound familiar? For those of you unfamiliar with the site, the National park Service has full rosters of most units of the CW and is updating them all the time. The site is http://www.itd.nps.gov/cwss/. Hope this helps someone... Nancy M. Dickinson OHGenWeb Webmaster Fayette County, OH http://www.rootsweb.com/~ohfayett
