Jeanette and I began canvassing this cemetery back in May. We had made a few trips out to the old community of Salem and found the church building intact (not in use) and that the cemetery is now in four distinct sections. Due to it's location, there are many people buried here who were from Dallas, Calhoun and Ouachita counties. It was therefore not a big surprise to learn that Doris, Jeanette and I all had ancestors buried in this cemetery. Doris asked if she could finish the cemetery, attend the annual homecoming to gather genealogical notes and then donate her work to the GenExchange. We recieved her material this morning and it is absolutely wonderful! She has done an outstanding job with such a big project and we can't thank her enough for her contribution. Jeanette will be doing the lookups, please be kind to her. The Gammill family alone took up three typewritten pages of single entries, so you'll know how many records she is dealing with. For a lookup in this cemetery, please send your surnames to ar-rooters@listserv.genexchange.com and let us know that you need a lookup in SALEM Cemetery. Thank you, Arkansas GenExchange Volunteers Debbra, Jeanette, Barbara and Jamila
