From Camden, turn left at Buena Vista onto County Rd. 5. Go about one fourth mile and turn left on dim road to cemetery. I think there is a sign. There are no stores at Buena Vista, so look for a crossroads. The directions on the Ouachita Co. cemetery page say go one mile, but this is probably referring to the location of the Buena Vista Methodist Church. The cemetery is before you cross the railroad tracks on Rd. 5.
From Camden Travel down Hwy 79 South to Buena Vista Turn left on Oua 5, there will be a sign that says Buena Vista Cem. Ten Springs Cem is now called Buena Vista cemetery. I was able to find Ila and Rebecca in the 1920 and 1930 census. I also found Grace and S. C. in the 1930 census, living apart. Both were listed as married, with S. C. listed as a veteran of WWI and working as a lumber inspector Union County, and Grace living with her mother in Bearden. It's just a guess at this point, but I think perhaps James may have died while in the military. His other 3 brothers all served in World War I from what I have read. Also, I have not found James listed in the Arkansas Death Index, so it is possible he died out-of-state. I also know that tens of thousands of young recruits died in the military training camps due to the Spanish Influenza outbreak - perhaps he was caught up in that tragedy. I know of some young recruits who are buried in my area, and most had only private family markers. Thanks again for the information.
Ouachita County Cemeteries are listed on line. Ten Springs is now Buena Vista and directions are given. Surnames: GRIFFITH, PARISH, HIGGINBOTHAM, FIKE Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/XV.2ADI/857 Message Board Post: I'm trying to "connect the dots" concerning my grandmother's GRIFFITH family cousins, and would appreciate any assistance with a few remaining problems. James L. GRIFFITH and his wife Sarah R. DODSON, along with 5 of their 6 children relocated to Ouachita County from Jackson County, Tennessee about 1901. James died a year later in 1902, and was buried in Salem Cemetery, Bearden. His wife moved to Oklahoma for a time to be with her sons, before returning to Ouachita County and living with her daughter, Matilda Avo FIKE. She died in 1931 and was buried with her husband. One mystery I have is with their son James Clayborne GRIFFITH. His World War I Draft registration card of 1917 stated that he was married and had 1 child. He died in 1919 and was buried near his parents in Salem cemetery. James is not listed in the Arkansas Death Index, and I have yet to find anything on his wife or child, including the 1920 census. It's possible that his death was war related, perhaps Spanish Influenza - but that is only a guess. Also buried in Salem Cemetery is a Grace GRIFFITH, who was the daughter of J. O. and Bettie E. HIGGINBOTHAM. Grace died during 1939 in Jefferson County, Arkansas. I believe she might have been the wife of Samuel Clifford GRIFFITH. The 1930 census shows Grace living with her widowed mother, and listed as married about 1920. I have yet to find Samuel Clifford GRIFFITH in either the 1920 or 1930 census. However, his World War II Draft card from 1942 listed that he was living in Jefferson County. If anyone had any information on Grace or her husband, I would appreciate it. Thank you!
