    2. Debbra: This message has been sent twice, and I finally found out that it was never posted. You can see the reason why. I think I just had my Signature line turned on. > Sorry I must ask this question, but did I miss your answer on these families? > I'm in the midst of moving and may have, in my haste, deleted something in > error. > If I missed it somehow, could you please re-send? Thanks, Earlene Hi -- The message you submitted to this list (included above) wasn't sent to the list subscribers. RootsWeb accepts only plain text mail. That means that HTML mail, attachments, ``enriched text'', and a few other formats can't be sent to RootsWeb mailing lists. You can post your message if you send it in plain text; turn off the ``Post in HTML'' or ``Enriched Text'' features of your mail reader, or don't use any attachments. See http://helpdesk.rootsweb.com/listadmins/plaintext.html for instructions on turning off HTML in most of the popular mail programs, or ask your ISP's technical support line for help. We've had to institute this policy because of the problems that accompany these fancy mail formats. Some people don't have mail programs that are capable of processing the special file formats. Even among those who do, different mail programs handle these special formats in very different and confusing ways. HTML messages pose special problems to our digested mailing lists. Most of all, HTML-ified mail and attachments place a considerable burden on RootsWeb's overworked machines. All in all, mail in this format produces a lot of problems for RootsWeb's servers and subscribers, so we find it's best just to use plain text. -- The RootsWeb staff

    3. The National Archives South East branch in the Atlanta area could Xerox the cards for you, but they will charge a research fee. They maintain the collection and are available for browsing and copying. Each state has it's own box and the cards are arranged (pretty much alphabetically) by county or parish. I have no idea if the have or plan to scan the cards for internet access. Might be worth a call or e-mail asking about their availability. Did you want specific names? I found several related family members, aside from the ones I was looking for by looking at each card from Ouachita County. 1. [AROUACHI] Question for Debbra Szymanski
    2. Kristi Simmons
    3. Debbra, I'm hoping you might be able to help me identify a cemetery. As best I can determine from looking at various maps, here are the directions: >From Good Hope in Ouachita Co, take CR13 southwest. At the Nevada County line it looks like CR13 turns into CR 10. About 1 mile from the county line, CR 10 intersects with CR 46. Turning south on CR46, go about 1/4 mile and there should be a cemetery on the left. The piece of land in question was originally bought by an ancestor of mine back in 1859 and it is very possible that this might just be a tiny family cemetery (and may be the final resting place for some folks I can't locate). The cemetery does appear on a 20 year old Nevada Co map, but not on more recent versions, so I'm curious as to whether it has been totally lost or if any markers remain. If you are familiar with this cem, or if you ever venture out that direction, I'd love to know what you come across. Thanks! Kristi Simmons

    1. [AROUACHI] How do you survey?
    2. McCratic Family
    3. Debbra and Jeanette, Would you be kind enough to share exactly how you survey a cemetery? I was in Claiborne and Union counties in LA two weekends ago for a family reunion. We visited seven cemeteries looking for Green(e)/Thompson and Moncrief relatives, but I found myself wishing I had a better system for recording the tombstone information other than pen and small notebook. Plus, some of the older headstones were not exactly in line with the other headstones, making it difficult to decide just who was buried beside whom. A gentleman at one of the cemeteries told be who had a plat of that cemetery, but we were on our way back to GA and time prevented me from looking her up. Could you also share what information is recorded on a cemetery plat? Where you find a copy for each cemetery? I plan to return for a Roberson family reunion at Stephens, Ouachita County, AR next month (moved from Aug because of heat and school conflicts). Thank you for your excellent research and helpful offers for look-ups in your records. Lisa McCratic Canton, GA
